After much waiting for it to open its door, we finally got to visit this restaurant. Had always seen it on the way to Siliguri from Darjeeling at Rohini. But finally made it this time. The location and the ambience is a big plus, followed by the food. The natural trail is its big merit.
We tried the veg items from their menu, which is rather limiting - wish they come up with more items in general both veg and non veg.
The good - chilli mushroom, paneer and veg momo, French fries The Bad - veg hakka noodles (passable), I like my noodles a bit more stir fried, this one was akin to veg soft noodles but is named Hakka. The star - malai kofta and lachcha paratha, what a heavenly combo and royally rich gravy 💗 Drinks - lime soda salty and coke, they need to add more drinks to their menu.
We were the only customers visiting them which was rather nice to have the entire place to ourselves (family of 7). We opted for the indoor seating fearing the unpredictable shower spells. But otherwise outdoors is a good option too on a pleasant day. While we waited for the food, they served us boiled potatoes with their trademark timboor chutney - which might not seem much but was thoughtful of them and the Chutney was amazing. One can request for the timboor chutney separately for your French fries 🍟 too. Timboor aka Sichuan pepper has a really earthy flavor that locals are familiar with but if you're new to it - can be a hit or a miss according to one's taste buds 😅 I've never been a timboor fan but for just this once I think I've had a change of heart. I'm not complaining.
The washrooms are clean - both Indian and Western. I think they also provide accommodation stay options on the floor above the restaurant but you can check with them.
Final thoughts - one can enjoy a great dining experience here couples, families and friends. The evening time the lights bring this...
Read moreIf you happen to land early at Bagdogra airport and have a plan to visit Darjeeling(India), you will be taking a road to Rohini, on way to Darjeeling via kurseong.
Nestled right below foothill of mountain on Rohini road is a restaurant by name Timboor. I suggest you stop by to have a sumptuous authentic lunch.
The place is surrounded by mountains with clouds looming large over Timboor.
The exact location would be 100 meters from toll gate on Rohini road .Precisely on left hand side while you face mountain.
The restaurant is pet friendly, Yet it’s Very hygienic,Neat and clean.
Their Menu mostly includes Local Nepali cuisine, & it’s a great idea to try Nepali Thali.
I ordered authentic Nepali Thali ,Smoked chicken/choila chicken cooked over charcoal fire, chicken curry and Naan. The food tasted amazingly out of the world. The rates are reasonably priced.
Staffs are pretty efficient, courteous and swift.
You will also find a souvenir shop adjacent to restaurant bearing a name Koseli, which means ‘Gift’ in Gorkhali language.Where you will find famous darjeeling Tea of different flavour packed and stacked nicely among other local gifts.
My overall experience on food was fulfilling and satisfying to my taste bud, While Surroundings Endearingly offered...
Read moreI visited this restaurant yesterday, and while the ambience from the outside looked inviting, my experience inside was extremely disappointing. We ordered the thali, eager to try it, but when I asked for an extra serving of chicken gravy (which I was willing to pay for), I was bluntly told that it wasn’t possible. The food itself was well below average — the thali (dal, chicken, vegetables, kheer, and aachar) lacked flavor, leaving much to be desired. For the price of Rs. 700 for two plates, the quality was simply not worth it.
The real frustration came from the service. From the moment we arrived, we noticed that most of the waiters were taking orders while chewing gum — and continued to do so throughout our meal. I’ve never encountered such unprofessional behavior in any hospitality setting. To make matters worse, two waiters casually sat on the sofa next to my wife, which was absolutely unacceptable. We had to call the owner to address the situation.
As for the manager, it was clear that he either lacks the basic understanding of his role or doesn’t bother training his staff to uphold any standard of service. Overall, this experience was appalling, and I can confidently say they’ve lost a customer. I will not be recommending this...
