Really disappointed by this place unfortunately. Our order was accepted on Grab for delivery at 5:05pm. It kept being delayed, so I called the restaurant 1 hour 30 minutes later. They didn’t seem to even realise that there was an order needing to be prepared. So they then told me than they were now starting to prepare the order at 6:40pm. I reached out to them and expressed our disappointment and asked for a partial refund for the inconvenience. We were given a 20k IDR refund, which was appreciated, they also explained that there was no grab driver available so they would drive it themselves, which was also appreciated- although unfortunately added more to the problem when the driver didn’t turn up. We are 1 hour away from the restaurant so we knew that delivery may take a while (although on the phone we were told “you are close to the restaurant so it will take about 20 minutes”, fortunately we did our own research and saw this wasn’t the case despite their promise), but by 8.30pm the food still hadn’t arrived, we were told that they had just spoken to the driver and he was outside our accommodation and had our contact number to let us know- no driver to be seen and no message or call from the driver. In the end we gave up as there is no point in paying nearly full price for cold food, nearly 4 hours after you have ordered. We just wish the restaurant was more organised and communicated clearly with us about the situation. Instead, we as the customer had to approach them every 10/20 minutes wondering where our food was. I’m sure the food is great although we never got to try it; but I would not recommend anyone to order for delivery- disorganisation and poor communication was unfortunately the biggest part of our experience with...
Read moreA lovely hidden gem! My parents decided to retire in Bali and recently moved to the neighbourhood. I’m usually a Canggu girl but with the overcrowding last couple of years, honestly, that area has mostly lost it’s Bali charm. Not much of peace and culture exchange. So, when they moved here, I was excited but at the same time unsure if there are eateries along the beach that would cater to western and local cuisines of high quality standards.
To my surprise, this place checked all the boxes from exceptional service to amazing authentic German and local food. The portions were huge. The ambience was also nice and quite laidback. On the beach with the view of the ocean. From the restaurant you can see people surfing. The owners were lovely and took their time to check-in with their customers on how the food is and general ambience. The husband is from Germany and is the chef of the restaurant. He has over 40 years of experience and you can tell by the quality and presentation of the dishes. We had the fish of the month and the barramundi. We also ordered desserts. The apple crumble, and mango and blueberry crumble with a scope of rum raisin ice cream each were amazing!! We were told that the schnitzels are outta of this world! We’ll be back for sure and give that a try next time!
If there’s one thing I could give some constructive feedback is to divide the seating area to smoking and none smoking. Perhaps the non-smokers can be on the top floor and smokers on the lower floor. As a non-smoker and cautious about air quality, I found it hard to fully enjoy as there were a few smokers there and the air blew the smoke to our faces.
Otherwise, we enjoyed our time there and will be...
Read moreThe owner of this restaurant is unhinged and clearly has a pattern of creating a “backstory” of why he receives a negative review because he can’t take feedback. Why would a customer continue to order food and dine if the backstory of why the bad review was given was true? After reading the positive reviews and then attending the restaurant, I am genuinely suspicious of how it has so many good reviews.
One star review for the ridiculous response to my partner not liking the food and the owner responding that it was allegedly about my interaction with the dog. No I didn’t try to touch the dog or take a picture with the dog and we wouldn’t leave a review about food based on that. Yes I did explain to the waitress about washing the eye, and was told he bites. Not a major interaction and I was under no obligation to stay or spend money if I had really been upset by that. You can see from my history of the reviews that I am a sincere reviewer of places and don’t just use Google to vent. We did let the waitress know we were not thrilled with the food and she seemed apprehensive to tell you, even letting us know we could try to tell you ourselves. Her reaction now makes sense. If you talk to people who review you this way, can’t imagine how you must talk to your staff privately. We fed the rest of the Mahi burger to a hungry street dog with a litter of pups. She enjoyed it, although I’m sure she would’ve been happier with a fillet. Oh and nasi goreng has a big VG next to it, which according to your menu is “vegan” and is traditionally served with tofu or tempeh even when it comes with meat, so the lack of it...
