Who needs to go to Italy when you can have the best pizza here in Keramas! We dropped in randomly after 9pm on a weeknight as we were looking for a snack in the area. What a discovery! Gusti the owner/chef makes outstanding pizza at such reasonable prices. We ended up eating two full sized pizzas and will be coming back again tomorrow to try more. The pizza dough is absolutely perfect as Gusti makes it by hand and finishes the pizzas in his self designed pizza oven. He is so particular about ingredients and flavours and takes great pride in his food! For example, for the chicken sambal matah pizza, Gusti smokes the chicken for an hour beforehand, so he needs a days notice. When we tried this pizza, we could not believe how sambal matah and pizza can work together, yet Gusti has made magic with it! His other pizzas are also delicious, for example the pepperoni. He slow cooks the tomato base so it is delicious just on its own in a margherita pizza. (PS, ask him what the secret ingredient is in the banana chocolate pizza!) Gusti himself is super friendly and has had a very interesting life which we were happy to learn about. Forget about the overpriced and overrated pizzerias of Canggu and Ubud, come to Gianyar and support the most authentic Neapolitan pizza in all of South East Asia and 100% in Indonesia. The owners are the most welcoming people and will make you feel right at home. This is a Neapolitan pizza at it’s best, made in a real handmade wood fire oven, prepped every day (unless it’s closed), the ingredients are top quality - the mozzarella, the anchovies, basil, the amazing passata…not to mention the dough itself. We had a blast speaking to Gusti and his wife and enjoyed every slice of the 3 pizzas we ordered (pictured below). We had a classic Margherita, pizza funghi and an “off menu” marinara with thin sliced garlic, anchovies and fresh basil. What a treat and a hidden gem this place is. Be kind, be humble, but most of all be smart and come get a pizza at Pizza Napoli in Gianyar. The owners have a very healthy approach to work life balance and the place is sometimes closed or opens a bit later, so make sure you give them a call or drop a message on WhatsApp to check if they’re open on the specific day you want...
Read moreWent at night, from Candidasa en route to Kuta beach. It was like sonethjng from a movie the drive up to this place through the village and dark winding roads. Amazing what you can find from Google! We seek out genuine authentic Neapolitan pizza wherever we travel and we're thrilled to find this place. The owners were lovely people and we got the story, after working abroad in an Italian they came here and built their own pizza oven!! Cute seating out on the balcony (inside might use a bit more mood lighting, but the local clientele may not care for that detail). Bring your mosquito repellent though! Pizza was made to order as partner has special dietary needs (no onion and garlic, which authentic Margherita would not have anyway but some places don't realise this). The fries were great and pizza fabulous, just look at that crust! My only thing was the mushroom was rubbery but I don't know what Bali mushroom are like and so this may be normal here. I love love loved the lime drink! I wasn't expecting it to be so nice but it was just delicious and what you need in the heat.
