WORST SERVICE EVER! DON'T EVEN TRY TO EAT HERE IF YOU EXPECT BASIC (NOT EVEN GOOD) SERVICE AND PROPER FOOD ORDER.
We visited the GAIA Hotel because some friend recommended the Hotel as a new luxurious Hotel in Lembang area. I'm from Bandung and live pretty close from the hotel, so I'm not staying at the hotel, just visited for the restaurant. There are two restaurant, Semeja (asian) and Monomono (Western - Steak).
We decided to try the Monomono, and it was my biggest mistake of the day, after long fun day at Lembang.
We arrived arround 5pm, and the place still relatively empty, only 2 other family at that time occupied the place. We made order around 5:20 PM, because the place is a bit chilly, I decided to order HOT Cafe Latte.
First impression: VERY Slow service, the latte arrive about 20minutes after ordering, and is not even hot, just luke warm. I complain about the not so warm coffee, and they replace it with the same luke warm coffee, so I just ignore it, may be they just don't have hot water or something. The coffee itself was pretty good. My wife ordered fruit punch the it taste good.
After waiting about 40 minutes, we start to wondering: "where's the steak?"
I ask the server politely, and the replied politely, it's on progress.
After the long wait, about 60 minutes (the place is still pretty empty at the time), finally they serve the steak, we ordered two tenderloin steak, 1 medium, and another well done. (6:23PM)
We're pretty hungry at the time after the long wait, so we're ready to slice the steak. Mine come pretty good, it was medium steak. but the other is also medium. So we ask the server to reheat the steak to make it well done. And we also ask, where's the side dish (chimicuri rice and mac n cheese for my kid).
The server just said, it's on progress. Another 10 minutes passed, the "well done" steak is still not back and the mac n cheese & the rice is still not there. Asked the server politely several times and still nothing. After I literally finished my plate, the other steak, rice, and mac n cheese still not there. My kid dinner time already passed, and my wife just waiting for the steak.
Then after 20 minutes from the first steak, finally the well done steak arrived. We keep asking where's my kid's food (the mac n cheese) and the rice? I already finished all my portion.
after 25 minutes and still no response, I started to get upset, went inside the restaurant and asked the manager, where's the rest of the food, she just panicked and tell the server to check it.
Then this funny thing comes: the server just come to our table with a slice of chocolate cake: "Sir, this is for our apologize, we made mistake on the order".
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I'm waiting for my kid's dinner and you have time to bring chocolate cake in front of my kid? (Parents will understand)
I asked him to take back the cake, and ASAP bring the food, and still waiting another 10 minutes to bring the rice, and another 20 minutes to bring the mac n cheese.
Then I started to eat the rice (with nothing else), and give my kid the mac and cheese.
And the server later back just keep bringing the ultimate apologize token, the chocolate cake. After that, they decided to gave us 15% discount, not even comparable to the dining experience and the food price. And untill I paid the bill, I only getting the apologize from that one server, even the manager didn't bother to visit our table.
For 400k per portion steak, it was disastrous experience, with the VERY SLOW service, Ignorance manager, and sloven server.
For the view it's pretty good, and the steak taste good. If you don't care getting very slow service and negligence staff for your 400k steak, and eat just for the view, atmosphere, and instagram, then this place is OK. But if you're looking for decent dining experice, I would say AVOID this place...
Read moreWe stayed at Gaia Hotel in Lembang, Bandung for a couple of nights and decided to have a dinner on our first night here at Monomono Restaurant. I can say that I'm satisfied with this restaurant! The food we ordered were delicious and presented nicely! The lamb chop was perfectly cooked according to my request (medium), the taste was very good and the presentation was also excellent! Love the sauce too! 1 thing that I don't really like was the fat around the meat although I know the fat is to keep the meat juicy (I'm not a fan of fat)... I could give a suggestion that probably the guests could be previously asked if they like to have a less fat meat or not😊 The other food we ordered was lomo saltodo, a stir fried beef that is so tender and served with rice. Hubby was happy with his choice and after I had a little bite, I could confirm that it tastes really good too! I also love the rice!!! My son ordered the strip steak and it was perfectly cooked as he wanted (medium rare) and he was also happy with his choice. I had to taste it and yea I could also confirm that it did taste really good! The meat was really tender accompanied by very tasty sauce. The drinks we ordered were delicious and refreshing too🤩 Service was perfect, everyone was helpful and reactive👍🏼 The ambience was also nice! After we finished our dinner, the chef came to our table and asked how was our dinner. Thank you Juan Carlos and all the staff at Monomono Restaurant for the perfect dinner served for us on our last days before we flew back to Paris! I will definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone who visits...

From the moment I walked into Monomono, I was impressed. Located within the stylish Gaia Hotel in Bandung, this restaurant offers a refined yet welcoming experience that made a lasting impression from start to finish.
I wasn’t in the mood for a full meal, so I opted for two starters instead — and both dishes were exactly as described on the menu. The quality was excellent, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. You can really tell that attention to detail is a priority here, both in the kitchen and in the service.
The menu is comprehensive, with a great selection of food and drinks, and they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. It was a cold (by Indonesian standards) and rainy evening during my visit, so I chose to sit inside — a decision I didn’t regret, as the interior ambience was warm, modern, and had a club lounge feel.
Even though I was dining alone during a business trip, the staff made me feel genuinely welcomed. In fact, they were so friendly that they even asked for a photo with me before I left — a gesture that perfectly captured the spirit of the place.
Highly recommended for anyone visiting Bandung — whether you’re staying at the hotel or just passing through. I’ll definitely return.
(Photos of the starters attached for reference — they tasted just as good as...
