Bakmi Djawa 2 Djaman — Restaurant in Bantul Regency

My favorite traditional noodle joint in Yogyakarta. Honestly, I haven't tried anywhere else, but I don't think it will get any better than this place.

The taste is very authentic since it's cooked on a charcoal stove and uses duck's egg. In addition it's value for money.

I suggest you to visit this place quite late in the evening to have faster service. Unfortunately this place only accepts hard cash.

Avoid if you are after vegetarian food. I was very clear about asking for no meat vegetarian dish and the staff nodded happily and even asked if egg was OK. I was then served a noodle soup full of chicken. When I pointed it out, they seemed confused and multiple time asked "no chicken?". Had bakmi godog, my all-time favorite. This dish tasted really good and rich, topped with free-range chicken meat and duck egg. As for the drink, I tried wedang seruni (consists of lemongrass, lime, cloves, sugar, etc), which was served warm and nicely. A perfect pair for dinner that worth the price.
