If you had a chance to go to Yogyakarta, please make time to visit this local restaurant. I got recommendation by my friend who stay in Yogyakarta for her study, she said Sate Klathak is a must try food here. The best Sate Klathak is this one: Pak Pong Pusat. I've been to Yogyakarta 3 times, and this last time was the first time I try this dish. It's really delicious! These were some menu that I ordered: White rice (1 portion). Sate klathak (this dish contain 2 skewers that has a juicy and tender meat and some yellow soup that seems to be made from turmeric under the skewers. I like this satay because the juicy and tender meat, the taste was 4/5⭐️). Tengkleng (I really love this one! This food was like ribs and bones that comes with a super delicious seasoning. You can choose the spicy level: mild/ spicy/ super spicy, and I choose spicy. I actually don't really enjoy spicy dish, because it'll make me sweat so much and my stomach can't handle that, but I still can enjoy this ribs. It was 5/5⭐️ and goes really well with the white rice). Tongseng daging (this was a mixture of beef, chicken and lamb. I like the brown soup, the taste was super rich and goes well too with white rice). Nasi goreng kambing (you should order this! This is my number 1 favorite. I just can't put it to words on how much I love this nasi goreng 💕).

The place somehow comfortable and spacy, I came here on the middle November 2020. You should avoid come here on lunch/ dinner time, I bet it would be really crowded. They have clean toilet and spacy parking lot for your vehicle. Don't forget to come here when you go to Yogyakarta, Central Java,...

Sate Klathak Pak Pong is a fantastic place to enjoy delicious grilled lamb satay in Yogyakarta. There are several notable features that make it a great dining spot:

Firstly, the spacious car park ensures that visitors have ample parking space, making it convenient for those who drive to the restaurant.

The standout dish at Sate Klathak Pak Pong is their tender and flavorful lamb satay. The satay is grilled to perfection, resulting in juicy and succulent meat that is a delight to savor. The combination of aromatic spices and the tenderness of the meat creates a truly enjoyable culinary experience.

The restaurant itself offers a spacious dining area with both regular seating and traditional "lesehan" style seating on mats. This variety provides options for guests to choose the seating style that suits their preference. Additionally, the availability of a prayer room (musholla) adds to the convenience for those who wish to perform their prayers while dining.

Another advantage of Sate Klathak Pak Pong is its affordable pricing. Despite the high quality and taste of their satay, the prices remain reasonable, making it an accessible dining option for a wide range of customers.

Overall, Sate Klathak Pak Pong is a recommended destination for those seeking delicious and tender lamb satay in Yogyakarta. With its spacious car park, flavorful satay, ample seating options, inclusion of a prayer room, and affordable prices, it provides a satisfying dining experience for both locals and...

If not because the waiting time was 1 hour, precisely 1 hour 😭, I would rate this place 5 ⭐. Came here on a Sunday night. Place was quite far from the city. It has 2 different sitting areas, so the restaurant is big. It can fit hundreds people in one seating. Most of tables were occupied. We had to order near the cashier area, wrote down all the orders and gave it to the waitress. The moment she got our order, she right away warned us that our order would take an hour approx. We could only say ok, as it's far from our hotel and we were starving! Food came. We ordered 2 portions of Sate, 1 Tongseng, and 1 Nasi Goreng Kambing. Me and my husband were super amazed. It was the BEST sate kambing (lamb satay) we have ever eaten. No marination whatsoever, it was just salty and smokey, but since it was that simple, we could taste the great flavor of the lamb. So freakin' soft! No bad smell at all. Tongseng was ok, nasi goreng was ok. But the sate??? Thumbs up! So I wonder why it has to take 1 hour for the food to be prepared since order was placed. I got the answer 🤧 The restaurant only has 1 guy to grill the sate. It was literally just 1 grill. My goodness. I don't know if it was just a marketing trick so the restaurant would always look full, or because they only trust 1 particular guy to grill. Such a shame though. If they could improve the cooking time, imagine how many more people can be...

As a fan of goat satay, Sate Klathak Pak Pong has been one of my go-to spots in Yogyakarta. In its early days, I frequently visited with family and it quickly became a favorite. It’s well-known and always bustling with customers. The place is spacious with plenty of seating available. They also maintain clean restrooms and mushola. My favorite dish here is the "sate kambing kecap". The meat is tender with large cuts, and the seasoning is flavorful and well-absorbed into the meat. We usually also order "sate klathak", which is a unique style of skewered meat that's cooked over an open flame, "tongseng", or goat meat fried rice. Everything is delicious. However, on my recent visits, I’ve noticed a decline in quality. The meat in the satay and "tongseng" has sometimes been tough, which is disappointing. The service has also become slower, likely due to the consistent crowd. Additionally, the prices have increased, making it relatively expensive for locals. It seems that Sate Klathak Pak Pong is now targeting tourists and visitors, which might explain the higher pricing compared to other local options. Sooo It’s worth visiting if you're a tourist or looking for a well-known spot, but locals might find better value elsewhere.
