First things first, a little concern when I rolled past De Koloniale during the recent holiday (April 1st-5th, 2025). Closed?! Say it ain't so! Let's keep our fingers crossed it was just a temporary thing, because it deserves my return visit. I like this place.
𝗗𝗲 𝗞𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗲: 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗗𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗲? (𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲!) Flashback to a year prior, when De Koloniale standing proudly on Blitar's main street. The old colonial architecture and those softly glowing lights? It was like the building itself was whispering, "Come on in, nerd, and let's have a break here..."
At the front door, they've got big space for your entire fleet of your wheelers. Stepping inside is like teleporting straight into a stylish history book. Old dutch house vibe that offers you colonial spirit... Of feasting. Let's forget about some unhappy past. Lol.
Now, let's talk wallet-friendliness! The prices here are so reasonable, you'll think they accidentally traveled back in time too (to when things didn't cost an arm and a leg). Comfort food with a casual wink. No overly fussy, Michelin-star wannabes here. De Koloniale is clearly aiming to be the ultimate chill zone, the "let's just hang out and solve the world's problems over a simple snack" kind of joint. And guess what? It absolutely worked for me personally.
Update they might raise the menu prices after time of my visit, not sure, because I looked up another visitor reviews and they say something like that.
There's more folks! They occasionally treat your ears to some live music, which turns the night uplifting. And for the selfie enthusiasts among us? Prepare your camera rolls! Every single corner of this place is begging for its close-up. It's like a beautifully preserved colonial era and you are the slaves, tormented... Wait... Nope, I'm sorry, why I got brought back to the dark times back then? Smh Oh, and did I mention the secret stash of local goodies? They have a little snack grocery selling regional delights. Perfect for grabbing a taste of Blitar to take home.
So that's all, pardon me with the bla bla there, but that's what I felt when visit this place. Wonderful time and worth returning to....
