Double Decker Casual Dining — Restaurant in Central Java

Double Decker is what I would call 'a confused restaurant'. From the place, you can tell that it tries to be a typical American diner, which would be really cool if they had stuck to their plan and serve traditional American diner foods like real burgers and fries, pancakes, milkshakes, waffles, pies etc. But the concept just failed. They chose to serve an extensive menu ranging from fusion italian food (rendang spaghetti) to British favorite (fish n chips). Unsurprisingly, as what always happens with restaurant that serves everything, the foods taste mediocre. They do serve burgers, but it's typical dry, fast-food burgers. The jukebox was also broken. Anyway, I'm sure it'd be fine for people looking for a mere hip place. For me, I hope they would make up their mind and stick to their concept or else I'd rather not...

Highly recommended! 👍👍👍 ✅FOOD: Steak is savoury, juicy and with reasonable price. Salad has special dressing-- sour and creamy. Pizza tasted like Bolognese but I feel like I was eating bread with toppings rather than a pizza; I took slices at home and ate the other day, surprisingly, it's still fresh and soft. Molten lava cake is great too. ✅SERVICE: They are fast in terms of food preparation and despite it's speed, it is still presentable. (I just personally don't like when restaurants take the dish even when you are still sitting down; but anyhow, it's a policy for some, so totally understandable.) ✅AMBIENCE: Clean, lights are good, seats are creatively put. They are updated too, as of now, their theme is SQUID game and I heard you can play some games too.

Will surely try other dishes next time! Looking forward for...

Double Decker Casual Dining is set like the 50's American diner. The walls are packed with posters, props, etc. We visited for lunch, but I bet it would be colorful and noisy at evenings.

For Jakartans like us, the price for the steaks are on the cheap side. The salad as their side dish was really good. The fries is okay, the mash potato also just okay. The steaks were good. The drinks were good, Lime Squash really fresh with actual lime juice. Service was also quite speedy (considering Solo, where everything is at a slower pace).

Definitely would be going back here if we are in Solo again and have the time to, as it is in Solo Baru area, quite a bit on the outer side of Solo central. Though there, 'far' is only 30...
