Kampung Ulam Ngrajek — Restaurant in Central Java

dont waste your time eating here, I arrange lunch for company outing here, they insist to take pre order for around 60adults exclude kids, and end up by asking me eating outside since i bring my own 1 portion for my kid, he just ate at that time, and they insist according to the restaurant regulation, we have to pack the lunch and eat outside, while i said, i still order for my son even he not eat in this restaurant, they insist not allowed even when we are okay for additional charge for the outside food.

for me, its find if you have to charge because you think we not order food for my son (i already order even he not eat that food).

they said they have cctv (I'm not criminal, I just want to let my son eat and still order the food for him, so I'm not afraid for cctv),

I request to talk to the manager to find the solution regarding this "super strict regulation", since my sons already ate his lunch, we cannot just pack and go somewhere else, while my group eat here!

they dont allowed still, until I said "if I go out, then I'm sure, the group will out too, since I'm the one who pay the bills, and its only 1 portion comparing to more than 60portions excluded extra order for drinks, snacks and other items"

then they said "we give exception for once (I swear, I will never comeback!)"

not to worry, its not the solution they offered about the "exceptions", it is how the "super strict regulations, killing the humanity and manners as Indonesian which known as friendly country, and its shock me how strict the employee applied it to the customers, even the customer willing to paid the penalty for outside food!"

I really regret I choose this, and will surely never ever want to return!

60portion = more than 3 millions, 1 portion = around IDR 63.000

Pros: beautiful setting home cooking love the robusta coffee. Always separate sugar and coffee..let the guest mixed it themself.

Cons: staff was so slow and not attentive at all. eating utensils cleanlines need to be improved all food were exposed. During this covid condition it is a very risky food presentation. cash only..no cards payment accepted yet. some food items were a bit pricey. some staff did not wear face mask. A big no no at this situation.

Please improve your staff quality and maintain the cleanliness. Train your staff to be more communicative with customers. Train them also to remind customers to throw tissue to the rubbish bin or put some signage as I found some guests just threw it to the floor & your staff didn't do anything about it.

Your place has a lot of potentials so long you can improve all those negatives and keep...

Atmosphere is great, old fashioned and homey. Some of the food tasted good, some were ok and so so. They’re all cold, like typical Padang restaurants and Wartegs put together, all prepared hours in advance. None of them were heated up. But I guess Indonesians are quite used to eating cold dishes. Prices, well, this is a very good example of “never return to this list kind of place”. It’s incredibly pricey, ridiculously inconsistent depending on their mood. For such cookings (cold and gambling for tasty choices, you may get nice ones, salty or flavourless ones, just pray for your luck) the prices can be different even in one receipt. Too funny to think that I and a member of family eating exactly the same food but the receipt showed different prices. Places like this won’t survive very long....
