D’Gunungan at The Taman Dayu — Restaurant in East Java

I was about to have lunch here, the restaurant opens at 11 am and I got number 3 on waiting list at 11.15 am, whereas almost all of the food had not yet served. So I made a reservation at 1 pm for coffee for 4 people. Then, I had lunch somewhere else.

Due to the high traffic, I called the restaurant so many times to inform that we would be 15-20 minutes late yet no one received. When I reached back at 13.20 pm, we needed to wait for the table juat less than 5 minutes. The table was ready but not for the chairs. The waiter must have taken the extra chairs from another table, and it happened not just to me but also to other tables. After which, we made an order. 3 coffees and a potato poutine for snacks.

The service was okay in terms of efficiency. The coffee was just okay, not a good coffee i can say. I saw other tables ordered and they actually presented not bad even though not outstanding as well. For the price, it was not so much different from cafes in Surabaya. The coffee was about 30-40k, the food range 60-70k each.

The eatery is in a good location, pretty good architecture, nice decoration with an open kitchen, but I didn't get the ambiance. It was so crowded, with a company of so many flies. In my opinion, they should provide more chairs, pay atrention more to the cleanliness, and make sure to make a reservation before (hopefully somebody will received the phone...

If that describes you then this place is not for you.

I drove to D'Gunungan alone at weekend, it was a pleasant ride, weather was good and a little rain there and there about 1 hour ride. The view in Taman Dayu is great and I enjoyed it a lot.

When I arrived at D'Gunungan, they told me parking for motorcycle is .. imagine the parking attendant pointing at small empty lot with muddy ground. They told me to park in really muddy space. This is the beginning of the how horrible my experience was.

I was expecting calm and cozy experience, they had a some live DJ show totally out of their Javanese theme (maybe my expectation was different since gunungan is a Javanese culture)

But I wouldn't judge place only based on what music they play.

What totally ruined my experience was before I even set foot in the cafe. The parking space. I was riding not a big bike but still quite significant weight. And when I was going home, I was stuck in the mud for a good 15 minutes, nobody came, not one of the many parking attendants. They have a LOT of grounds of car parking ground to cover I guess? But none of that is for motorcycle, thank you for the huge discrimination.

In short, if you ride motorcycle alone, you are not this places...

Awesome view and place, a hilltop dinner setting. I believe this place were already common among most people here (I just moved to the east of java few months ago) since people still would go here eventhough this place weren't the easiest place to reach.

First of all, I believe this place is pretty famous. So you'd expect to fill the waiting list before being seated (Advance booking should be available for this kind of place I suppose). To be honest, the employees weren't giving the best impression in welcoming guests (probbably its pretty hectic inside, but still) Though wasn't all dissapointing that by the next few minutes a table are already being set up for us.

I tried their Dory Provençal, accompanied with a glass of sparkling sangria. food was ok since I've been to place with taste both better and worse, so does the drinks. What got me impressed the most were the duration in preparing the meal. Nothing more than 10 minutes I believe, I'm really impressed. So does for the price, too. Enjoying the hilltop vibes, having my meal on the side of a pool, for around $10 you should've been grateful.

There are very few restaurants with this kind of setting around here, and you wouldn't go wrong with this place. Nice place, decent taste, reasonable price, and there are no time...
