RM Handayani is a well-established Indonesian restaurant with a history of over 50 years, specializing in authentic Indonesian cuisine. It was originally founded in 1961 by Ibu Kasni under the name Depot Han in Surabaya. In the 1970s, the restaurant was renamed Rumah Makan Handayani by Hanafie Surja and Inawatie, who helped expand its popularity. The restaurant moved locations several times and opened new branches, including one in Paiton in 2013, which is part of the Wisata Paiton area. RM Handayani is known for its cozy, natural, and warm atmosphere that reflects Indonesian culture, and it offers a variety of catering services and traditional menus. The Paiton branch is noted for its lakeside setting although it doesn’t qualify as a lake, mo like a pond, providing a pleasant dining experience amidst nature

Read moreRM Handayani was gorgeous! They had an indoor eating setup and also several thatched stilt houses in the water which can contain up to 6 or even 8 people if you decide to squeeze in. The ambience can only be described as extremely calming; they played soft music with traditional Javanese tones and had the most welcoming staff to go along with it. Each house had its own washing bowl and soap so you didn't have to go far to search for that. The toilets were also clean and pleasant to use.
Now about the food- the fried calamari (๑♡⌓♡๑) was so good, it was crispy on the outside and soft and just slightly chewy on the inside. The chicken satay and guramie Goreng in special sauce were up there as well. I didn't like the Kelapa and sirap drink which I ordered though (don't recall its name) but that was the only exception so it's all good.
On the cost side, this place is expensive in comparison to a normal warung stall, so do keep that in mind when...
Read more1st stop after landed at surabaya. Everything was AMAZING (except for the salted egg fish, not really good, no salted egg taste at all). The fried rice and tauhu egg were the star⭐ for us. Dessert wise, can order the avocado one, dont order the pink one in the photo (i forgot the name), cuz its too sweet.
Service was excellent 👍. We wanted to order one of the curry fishes to try but the waiter advised us that it doesnt really match with the fried rice. We listened to him instead and got the fried fish.
Price is really worth it with the quality of food and surrounding, though when we went, we dont really see locals eating there.
Will...
