Had breakfast with family couple weeks ago. The madamoiselle whom receiving our order was very helpful, efficient and gracious. She has seen that we had two kids that not very fond of spicy food, she offered us directly a separated non-spicy satay sauce that we took pleasantly. I got to say that was very impressive for service, for not all more deboinare restaurant has their services like that. It had shown that they care for their customer; more like welcoming a family, rather than a potential customer. Good hospitability.
In reviewing the serving itself, portion is generous. Very generous, I think that if a person finished a plate, thus guaranteed to sustain them enough until after lunch. For 32,000 IDR, we got a plate of 10 skewers, stacks of lontong pieces (steamed rice wrapped in banana leafs), plenty of peanut sauce and a cup of raw shallots cuts (it s not pickled. It is a traditional way to eat chicken satay. As small cuts of raw shallots help to cut through the sweet and savory peanut sauce, also it was believed to counter acts the carsinogenic of the chars)
The chicken meat cut not in wedges, but in long fillet style. The satay it self had been marinated and had very little char. It has enough smokey fragrance, tender and had a texture for chewing. Lontong was tender and the unique fragance of banana leaves. The peanut sauce just right to our taste. It has enough consistency, not too watery. Not too sweet, peanuts were not left in chunks (some prefers more roughness for the crunchy factor, I’ll just say that there’re lots of crunch we got from the krupuk; fried chips, and shallots) The taste of the sauce was very tasty, in javanesse saying ‘sumer’ which means not a season comes after spring but a taste developed by adding just enough chilli on the sauce so it left tender warmth not a spicy kick. For those who love spicyness are encourage to add a spoon or more of sambal (pounded bird-eyes chilli)
All in all, it is deserved its fame. Come and try to have a meals in their...
