Located in Green Lake, Tatei offers minimal classic dessert just chiffon and madelines, but has enough variety for drinks and main dish.
Place is kinda small, the table in the first floor are very small and sittings aren't comfortable. Second floor has more wider tables and many sittings. One thing I love is the interior of the cafe. Santorini greek ambience, minimalistic and white and brown woods furniture. Second floor has nice lighting due to wide window at the edge.
You have to go to the cashier to order. Sadly, there is only 4 kinds of madelines when I got there. During lunch time it is crowded and since the place is small, kinda noisy. They use unique shape plate and bowl for plating which is nice.
Food came out fast. However at second floor is kinda hard to call the waitress. We ordered Fettucine carbonara (62K) I don't recommend this one, too salty, pasta is al dente though. But sauce is so liquid like soup, and taste like r*yco .
Rice with tempeh someting (42k) this is one is okay though. Just fine nothing special. Rice with roast chicken and kemangi chili like salad things.
The rose rootbeer (26k) is a nice drink, rootbeer with sweet pink syrup. Taste like rootbeer more sweeter and less soda.
The tea is refill (25k)
Have the lemon madelines (13k), and it is delicious, taste balance it well sweet and a hint of sour fresh from the lemon. Though texture is kinda too soft. But it's okay and worth trying. The madeline is soft outside and inside and easily crumble. I dont quiet like the dark chocolate Madelines (22k) , as the sponge itself already solid, the dark chocolate makes it too much. I don't know if I was full or it makes me feel nausea.
The chiffon pandan cheese (35k), is delicious, sponge taste soft, covered with plenty of cheese. But you couldn't expect much from a chiffon.
Overall, Tatei offer a nice dining and hangout place. Couldn't expect an excellent main dish as this cafe offers more of their cakes. But it does offer a delicious decent enough madelines, which I would recommend of anyone ask where to buy madelines, the...
Read moreStyle over substance. I give two stars just because the staff was nice and thoughtful.
It's a rather pleasant looking venue, but that's it. The furniture is so awkwardly designed that they are hardly functional. The coffer table is so tiny that I'm sure it will be a hard time to put a dish served on menu with two cup of drinks on it. Seating area is open but cramped, causing lack of privacy, claustrophobic feel and noisy environment.
Move on to taste test, I ordered mocha latte. Taste is subjective, I would not mention that it's tasty or not, but I will describe the drink that I had. As a drink that should consist of milk, chocolate and coffee, this drink feel and taste as lean and watery as a cup green tea. I hardly able to taste and smell the chocolate and milk, or discern any other taste, aside from faint coffee scent.
The plastic cup is rather unusual and pretty, but good luck if you are carrying it on a car, the lid doesnt feel secure, and the dimension of the cup makes it hardly able to fit into most cup holders. When it fits, good luck on getting the cup out.
All in all, i hope they can imrpove...
Read moreVery bad dine-in lunch experience. Small cafe with quite good ambience and nice food actually, but the owner really needs to fix the service.
I made the payment even before lunch hours, and the place was not crowded—only two tables were occupied, including mine. However, a bottled mineral water only arrived 30 minutes after payment, and that was after I asked. Seriously, does a bottled Pristine mineral water need to be made in the kitchen?
I also ordered French fries, gyoza and the Garlic Butter Wafu Pasta. After almost an hour, the food finally arrived—only after I complained. Come on, guys—it’s just pasta, and the café wasn’t even busy. Most people were only ordering drinks and desserts.
I asked the staff at the cashier to help charge my phone near the counter. At first, they refused, saying all chargers were being used—even though I clearly mentioned I brought my own charger and just needed a power source. Only then did they finally agree to help.
There is absolutely no reason to come back. I seriously doubt the other positive reviews are genuine. The owner must take immediate action. The service...
