MAKNA COFFEE HQ — Restaurant in Jakarta

I want to be fair, so let me start by stating that the manual brew I ordered was excellent. The coffee itself is clearly of high quality. But... 40.000Rp for what is a fraction of Starbucks' smallest size is expensive. Ok, we pay more for quality, I understand. What I understand less is the poor selection of food offered - a handful of high-priced nondescript pastries. Next, the ambience. The space has potential, but all the tables have hard chairs that must surely be intended to dissuade people from lingering. There's one couch, enough to seat 3. Meanwhile, the staff have their own comfort room behind glass, with couches, a tv... It's a very strange set-up. Off-putting, in fact. And the a/c was blasting at a level that impelled me to go outside to warm up! Makna seems to be intent on wasting an opportunity to be a community space that can compete with Starbucks. And it shows. In the 90 minutes I spent there on a Saturday afternoon, only a handful (including me) of customers showed up, hardly a challenge to the 3 staff hanging out in their private room when not needed to...

one of my best comfort coffee shop in Jakarta. to start it off, the makna staffs are very nice and friendly. i found that not all coffee shops in Jakarta have friendly and approachable staffs but Makna does (to some people this is an important matter).

you should try their hot latte on rainy days or iced americano on boiling hot days. they are also expanding their dishes, i tried their Gyudon (not pictured) and they’re pretty good!

spacious and comfortable coffee shop to be doing work, having one on ones, and group of up to 6. outdoor is decent because it’s not direct sunlight-exposed.

Makna Coffee, this is a cool spot in Promenade, Kemang. Interior was clean and neat with a wooden panel on the wall. They are using a coffee cart for the bar that has been there for years! 👌🏻☕️

Spacious indoor, perfect for work from cafe, meeting with clients, and weekend hangout with family. They also have outdoor seating area with a big mirror to take selfies.
