Warung Makan Dwijayanti promises an authentic Indonesian culinary experience in a beautiful setting. And, to its credit, it boasts a spectacular view that enchants diners, offering a picturesque backdrop that effortlessly paints the best of what Indonesian landscapes have to offer. The serenity one feels while dining and looking out onto the scenery is certainly one of its strong points.
However, beyond this initial lure, there were several aspects of my experience at Dwijayanti that I believe need improvement. Let’s delve into the details.
Firstly, the pricing. As someone who's familiar with local food pricing and what it typically costs at other establishments, I was a bit taken aback by the rates at Dwijayanti. Authenticity should not equate to exorbitance. The meals, though carrying the essence of Indonesian flavors, were markedly overpriced. I'm not averse to paying a premium for an enhanced dining experience, but the price should correspond to the quality of the food and the overall experience.
Speaking of food, let’s talk about the lumpia. Lumpia, a popular delicacy, is renowned for its delicate skin that gives way to a flavorful filling. Unfortunately, at Dwijayanti, the lumpia skin was noticeably thicker than usual, which detracted from the overall enjoyment. The balance was not quite right, with the texture of the skin overpowering the filling.
Then came the nasi goreng, a dish I so often hold as a benchmark for any Indonesian eatery. I was hoping for that familiar burst of flavors – a blend of spices, sweetness, and savory goodness. Alas, the nasi goreng served here was uncharacteristically bland. It lacked the vibrancy and punch that is so iconic of this beloved dish.
However, what truly marred my experience at Dwijayanti wasn’t just the food but an incident that raised concerns about their service prioritization. After placing our order, my companion and I settled in, eagerly awaiting our meal. However, about ten minutes later, a group of around 10 local boys arrived and, to our astonishment, their orders were prioritized over ours. They seemed to be known to the staff, which doesn’t excuse the oversight. We arrived at 11:55, and our food was served at 12:41, making us wait for nearly an hour. While I understand the importance of catering to regulars, keeping other patrons waiting is a clear misstep in service.
In conclusion, while Warung Makan Dwijayanti offers a tantalizing view that can mesmerize any diner, it needs to address the evident gaps in its food quality and service. I would hope that the management takes this feedback seriously, as with a few tweaks, Dwijayanti has the potential to truly shine as a top-notch eatery...

Ibu Ayu opened this spot 13 years ago. Her house is built below the warung. You are perched on the rooftop, so to speak, on a house perched off a slope overlooking the lush sidemen valley. You are a guest in her home. Her daughters help her.
What a great place to sip a freshly squeezed orange (mmm) or lime drink (intense!) topped with a frangipani blossom. An Estonian woman at the next table tucked the flower behind her ear. We loved the slowly grilled chicken and rice steamed in banana leaf. Lots of yummy sides. Everything's prepped to order. So be prepared to wait. Her daughter prepared sambal matah just for us.
You should wait. You must. The awesome view - of rolling hills, valleys and crown-topper houses and temples poking above the trees - cannot be captured by camera. Neither can the warmth and hospitality.
Come here. You will be nourished, stomach and...
Read moreView is quite nice. I like the area a bit more than “downtown” Sidemen. The restaurant interior is spacious and not pretentious, and clean enough. Menu looks rather good and varied. Service is friendly.
Food is unbelievably good. Curry was amongst the best I’ve ever had. I can only fault it for having a bit of plastic food wrap left in. Taste was phenomenal. Rice was very well-presented — all rice sides came in the nasi putih style cone shaped banana leaf.
Just when I thought it was over, the mother of the house brings out a seriously well-stocked dish of nasi campur. The chicken on stick portion of this nasi campur was amazing — melt in your mouth good. She also gave me snake fruit and a cupcake to top it off. She is very proud of her sambal, and was a bit vexed I didn’t finish hers.
The air temperature and breeze is perfect. It feels less humid here, and there were hardly even any flies. Just one that I can remember. Near Solondigan Rice View.
