Was seeking an authentic Chinese restaurant to celebrate Lunar New Year and they over delivered!
What attracted me to the restaurant was first that I found that there would be a barong sai (lion dance) and also that they operated a shuttle in a cute tram style that can come to fetch you if you're within the Kuta limits (must call or WA first to determine). As well it would make for excellent and unique photos.
My kids and I had a hoot going the distance in the open air but covered tram from Lippo Mall Kuta to the restaurant. We were the only ones!
When you round the corner to the restaurant it appears so grand with its wide and tall bamboo crafted entrance. Staff are all so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
Food and drinks were done well and with decent portions for family style sharing too. You can mostly order dishes in S, M or L sizes. Drinks are nice and strong. We over ordered all the deliciousness and had another meal or two of takeaway. Next time we come we can order more dishes in the smaller size and have various ones. The squid in salted egg was amazing when it was freshly prepared and brought over. I normally don't like batter but this one was a bit crunchy and soft but just perfect.
So many types of seating available too, spread amidst the gargantuan property with waterfall and even a 2nd area (not in use when we were there). Fascinating for the eyes from all angles.
We ate at the back round banquet style covered areas. Even when my kids were a bit loud from the excitement, we were widely spaced from other patrons. Kids also had a blast to discover all over the property including the ponds with fish, bridge, waterfall.
Bring mosquito repellent as we found we did get some bites where we sat. Perhaps the restaurant could offer them already at the tables for convenience. Luckily I always bring my own.
We left by scooter but the staffs were amazing to ask us ahead of time when they saw us starting to end our night if we would like the tram back. If you come by car, be sure to notify them about 30 mins before you leave so they can take your car out of the valet as parking is somewhat limited but they juggle...

It was v interesting to watch a local cultural performance! Yes! you heard it right and regardless of where you seat. You get a glimpse of it and certainly the sound system was good to propel the sound of traditional comforting music during dinner.
i have not come across such a place like this and Yes! i highly recommend this restaurant as a place to see- dine, with comfortable seating layouts and configurations in a garden fortress and be entertained at the same time and yes! its alfresco setting but feels so cool because of the setting.

Read moreWanaku is nestled in the heart of Tuban; this breezy, forest-themed Asian fusion restaurant is a true standout. With its enchanting Balinese ambiance, the moment you step inside, you’re transported into a world of culture and culinary delight. The menu boasts an impressive array of dishes, showcasing the freshest seafood and meticulously crafted Chinese specialties. Highlights include the wasabi prawns, spring rolls, and seafood fried rice, all of which are exceptional and bursting with flavor. We were told the oysters are particularly noteworthy—or simply the best!—but unfortunately, we missed them at the time of order.
The service here is stellar; the staff is not only polite but also highly professional, enhancing the overall dining experience. Whether you're enjoying a meal with family or friends, every detail is designed to ensure comfort and create lasting memories.

We chose this spot for our first dinner in Bali, and it exceeded our expectations. The delightful ambiance, great mood music, and generous portions of dishes were well received. Thank you for the excellent service! We’ll definitely be back!
PS: the cocktails are equally delicious 10/10...
