Review: Pallubasa Serigala, Jalan Serigala, Makassar

If you're seeking an authentic culinary experience in Makassar, look no further than Pallubasa Serigala, located on Jalan Serigala. This local gem is renowned for serving one of the best versions of Pallubasa in the city, a traditional Makassar dish that will captivate your taste buds with its rich and complex flavors.

Ambiance and Service

Pallubasa Serigala is a bustling eatery that truly comes alive during dining hours. The restaurant can get quite crowded, especially around lunchtime and dinner, as locals and tourists alike flock to savor this beloved dish. Despite the crowd, the service is efficient and friendly, with staff working diligently to accommodate the influx of patrons.

The Dish

The star of the show here is undoubtedly the Pallubasa. What sets Pallubasa Serigala apart is the use of meat taken from the cheek of a cow, known for its tenderness and rich flavor. This choice cut adds a unique depth to the dish, making each bite melt in your mouth.

The broth is an intricate blend of spices, including coriander, cumin, and turmeric, providing a fragrant and savory base. The addition of grated, toasted coconut elevates the soup, offering a subtle sweetness and a nutty aroma that complements the savory elements perfectly. Cracking a raw egg into the steaming hot broth just before serving adds a creamy texture that enriches the overall experience.

Experience

Eating at Pallubasa Serigala is more than just a meal; it's a cultural immersion. The crowded yet lively atmosphere reflects the popularity and authenticity of this Makassar staple. Despite the wait times during peak hours, the reward of a bowl of perfectly prepared Pallubasa makes it all worthwhile.

Conclusion

For those visiting Makassar, a trip to Pallubasa Serigala is a must. The combination of tender cheek meat, aromatic spices, and the distinctive addition of toasted coconut and a raw egg creates an unforgettable dining experience. Just be prepared for a bustling environment during dining hours – a true testament to the dish's popularity and the...

is the food good? it is... but so does Soto Madura and Pindang Iga. The special thing is that it's served with egg yolk which I don't really know the significance in taste does it made, but in terms of how it look, a yellow roundy thing in the middle of small bowl, looks photogenic.

in terms of service, I don't understand what they did so that some of the reviews said that the quality of their service is bad. here's what happened to me:

I came, they offered me a seat, ask me what I ordered while serving two plates of rice and a glass of sweet ice tea. The pinnacle of it was when I finished my meal and looking for toothpicks, one of the staff gave me a box of toothpick without me asking. Dang! are they psychic???

maybe it's because of the Wolf (Serigala). Don't tell me that every full moon, this is where Jacob and his gang hang out planning on how to take Bella from Edward's hand.

Would I come back? maybe if I came to Makassar again.

Just in case you're wondering, yeah... same as Soto Kudus and Coto Makassar, their bowl is small...ugh! But, and it's a really big but... if you happened to be a soup-lover like I am, don't hesitate asking for another round of soup... the staff will get it for you... even better, add one more bowl of...

Pallubasa Serigala is a hidden gem for those craving an authentic taste of Makassar’s famed Pallubasa. Tucked away in a small alley, this spot is almost always bustling with people.

The pallubasa here is savory, rich, and topped with a unique raw egg yolk that melts into the broth, adding a creamy touch that enhances the flavor.

However, the portion size might feel a bit small for some, especially given its popularity. With only one menu item, they focus on perfecting this traditional dish, which is delicious but might not be filling enough for everyone.

The location can also be a challenge, with limited parking space that makes it tricky for visitors with cars.

While the taste of pallubasa is unforgettable, the service could be improved. The staff could be more welcoming, which would elevate the overall experience.

IMHO, Pallubasa Serigala is worth a visit for its iconic flavor and unique...

The most famous Pallubasa in Makassar is the one on Jalan Serigala. Almost all local residents recommend this restaurant. Usually Palu Basa uses meat, lungs, brain or even mix everything. You can also use half-boiled eggs for the mixture," From the outside, restaurant is busy and visitors enjoying their dishes. Quickly, the employee served the ordered food. I ordered a Palu Basa, white rice and a glass of iced tea. No need to wait long, in less than 10 minutes, the food order was delivered to the table.
