Otello Gelateria — Restaurant in Malang

I visited this gelateria with my daughter and my best friend to wait for our train home, and this place was near the train station so we wouldn't be late to catch up later on. We initially thought we could order some snacks other than the gelato there, but the waiter said the cook came later so they couldn't serve any snacks before lunch (we came there at 10 am). Therefore, we ordered a medium cup of bubblegum gelato (Rp21,819) for my daughter and a small cup of Earl Grey + Flagela (strawberry) gelato (Rp31,819) for me. These prices haven't included the 10% VAT. The bubblegum gelato tasted artificial and fabricated, looked so bright that you could tell it was added with food coloring, and melted quicker than the other one; the texture was more like ice cream instead of gelato (hence the cheaper price). Meanwhile, the Earl Grey + Flagela gelato was what you called the artisan gelato. It tasted not strikingly sweet for my liking since it used natural ingredients, and it took a long time to melt (in fact, it barely melted until we finished it). My daughter asked me to swap our gelato since she liked my choice. You should try their artisan, natural gelato since the taste is really worth the price and the flavors are unique and you cannot really find it in other gelaterias. Had a really bad experience.

First time ever that a gelato shop put a max taste up to only 5 flavors. Really?!?!?

For 500gr gelato, you HAVE to buy the styrofoam. So I asked nicely, I'd like to dine in, can you just serve it in a bowl or a plate?? No, they can't. Really?!?!? You sell ice cream WITH a container or a cup. If we buy large or medium, you give us a FREE cup right? So why not the 500gr size?? Does it make sense?!?!?

For premium flavor, you have to pay extra - only if you buy the 500gr size!!! If you buy large or medium size, no different in price whether you choose premium or regular flavors. How is that make sense?!?

Put more details information on the counter, or else customer will think that you are cheating on them. Just like me!

Taste is yummy, I like it so much. But one thing that is really annoying… it happened today. I order at the cashier and pay. After I paid, and I order mine, but they could not taking my order and said, wait for the nota from cashier ya kak. And then I wait… 3 minutes pass and cashier didn’t give anything to her friends who are standing really next to her! And only me who were waiting my ‘turn’ to order. No body queues, only me!
