Joe's Restaurant — Restaurant in North Sumatra

We went to Joe's for brunch and had the chicken a la batak and the pork taco. All homemade, incredible flavour and spices used, and good portions! We enjoyed the meal and atmosphere so much we went back for dinner and had BBQ pork with chips and salad. The pork was cooked perfectly and the homemade sauce was delicious. Our brunch was a good price of 75k for 2 meals, but the bbq pork was our most expensive meal in Indonesia at 240k for 2 people (worth it!). However, the food was also the best we have had so far on our travels! So depending on budget, this place has everything you need and will fill you up! If you visit Tuk-tuk or Tomok area of Samosir island, make sure you visit Joe's. Homey place, great owner, awesome food. We pre-ordered roasted pork (because it took one day to prepare the meat and spices), and was very happy with the food. The pork itself tasted so GOOD even without the sauce. YUMMY! 😋👌

Encouraged by positive reviews from here we went there, but it turned out that BBQ has to be ordered one day in advanced because it takes a few hours to prepare the food. So we booked for the following evening :) we took grilled fish and grilled pork and both dishes were absolutely DELICIOUS!!! Food comes with home made sambal souse - brilliant!!!! The venue is rather basic and home run, but owners are very friendly and full of hospitality. We payed 120k for 2 dishes which made this dinner even more memorable.
