tbh, it was my first time trying "soto udang" because for "soto" we usually have either chicken, beef or jeroan. the soup tasted very tasty and fresh, the shrimp is really good. it was my first time visiting this restaurant because my uncle recommended it to us which led me that my beloved father used to eat in this restaurant too. there was a funny moment when we asked for "es teh tawar", i forgot that people in medan dont call it "teh tawar" but they call it "teh pahit" or "pahit" instead. cmiiw. the waitresses kind confused when we asked for teh tawar lol forgive us for being tourist. the shrimp noodles was also pretty tempting but since I couldn't eat much, maybe I'll try again next time. definitely will come again.

A excellent choice for a rest stop on the road north of Medan. A classic kedai kopi of a kind which is fast disappearing from Indonesia. Run by the same chinese family for three generations, and frequented by a mix of locals. The building itself is a piece of history and they also have some interesting photos of historical Tanjung Pura on the walls. I normally stop for a cup of the thick, black-as-night coffee and a doorstep slice of kaya toast (they bake the bread themselves in huge ovens at the back), but the soto ayam is among the best I have had in Indonesia.

Really love this old school kopitiam. The food we ordered, all were delicious. The Mee Rebus is a must-try. And worth it second portions. The toasted bread was out of this world, at least to us Malaysians. And not to mention the kopi... Another must-try.. Really reminiscent of Malaysian kopitiams of the past.

This is a must-visit place if you are passing by TanjungPura and...
