Awful Rotten Food and Terrible Service at Babi Guling Depot Betty
I had an absolutely dreadful experience at Babi Guling Depot Betty. From the moment I walked in, the stench of rotten, spoiled food was overwhelming and completely off-putting. The staff seemed entirely disinterested and unattentive, as they brought me a cup of black tea instead of the green tea I had explicitly requested.
The real horror, however, came when I took my first bite of the food. The babi guling (roast suckling pig) tasted and smelled utterly rotten, causing an immediate gag reflex. The texture was mushy and unappetizing, and the combination of the foul odor and taste made it completely inedible.
It's clear that this restaurant caters solely to the local community and has no regard for providing a quality dining experience for anyone else. The staff seemed completely indifferent to my concerns and did not even bother to apologize or make any effort to rectify the situation.
I have had some unpleasant dining experiences in my life, but Babi Guling Depot Betty stands out as one of the worst. The rotten food, poor service, and complete lack of care for the customer experience make this an establishment I would strongly advise everyone to avoid at all costs. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place - your taste buds and nostrils...

Nestled in the scenic beauty of Luwus, this restaurant offers an authentic taste of Balinese cuisine, with their Babi Guling being the star of the show.
The Babi Guling (suckling pig) was exceptionally prepared - crispy skin on the outside, tender and flavorful meat on the inside. Each bite was a burst of traditional spices and flavors, perfectly encapsulating the essence of Balinese cooking.
What added to the charm of Depot Betty was the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home. Their recommendations for side dishes and drinks were spot on, enhancing our dining experience.
Moreover, the value for money here is incredible. Delicious, high-quality food at reasonable prices is a rare find.

Read moreI came here a bit late at night after a trip to Bedugul. Even though I’ve lived in Bali for a while, this was actually my first time trying Depot Betty. The place has that classic Balinese eatery aesthetic and feels pretty cozy. I arrived around 8–9 PM, and surprisingly, it was still quite busy.. so busy that I missed out on getting the crispy pork skin 😢
As for the food, it was pretty good. The pork meat and soup were tender, but the rice and vegetables weren’t really my favorite that night, as they were a bit too salty for my taste. There were plenty of staff, but honestly, service felt a bit slow. Maybe it was just because of the crowd. I even asked if it’s always this busy, and they said weekends are packed from morning till night.
The location is strategic and easy to find, with enough parking space for cars. Prices are reasonable (forgot the exact amount, but I think a portion of rice with drinks was under IDR 50k). When I visited, their QRIS payment system wasn’t working, so it’s better to bring cash...
