Bali Hai is a great place to stay. An even greater place to chill and eat. Not knowing what to expect, I booked here for 4 days. Should have been longer.
The place itself is extremely nice. It’s unique and well appointed. Rooms are good, especially the larger ones. Nothing to complain about. Maybe some more loungers beach side but staff will happily put some there.
Food is excellent. Some of the best meals I had on Bali were eaten here. Especially the local dishes. Unlike many restaurants, mostly cooked fresh, not from the freezer. Kitchen is spotless, chef is very approachable and loves entertaining guests.
Staff is very friendly but a bit inexperienced. If you’re not a total *hole, that will not matter in the slightest. Sometimes you might have to wait 10 min longer. Who cares? The food will be excellent and you’re in paradise.
Now for the most important super- megaplus of this property : location. Yes, it’s a drive from everywhere, but you end up at what may be the most authentic, beautiful, wide, surfable beach left in Bali. You can walk for miles without seeing anyone. And not much waste washes up here either, so they are clean. It’s magical. Come for the beach alone. You will not regret the 2,5 hrs in the car from either airport, kuta or Lovina. Also, inland you’ll find rice fields and coffee plantations galore. It’s really the ‘old Bali’ here.
Owners are American so the staff speaks pretty good English for where you are. There are also a lot of ‘rules’ signs everywhere and the ToCs are a mile long but in reality it’s all very laid back and relaxed.
They are still very much in a long term soft opening so if you plan on staying longer (you should!) or come with a bigger party, I recommend contacting them about pricing.
Also: you will need transport. No grab or Gojek here. Staff will be happy to help though.
For those interested: the pool is a lap pool at 20m with sufficient depth all the way. No super shallow end. Very well maintained too. Salt water I believe. 👍
Although the beach is amazing, there is no lifeguard anywhere. I would make sure you’re not alone and are a strong swimmer. Apparently you can surf the waves, but given there is no lifeguard etc, go in a group or ask the hotel in advance to find you an instructor!!
They apologize on their website for road noise. I have no clue why because there hardly is any. The sound of the waves pretty much dominates anyway.
Go there. It will be the highlight of your...
Read moreBali Hai is a terrific find and offers unbelievable value for money. The resort offers wide sweeping views of a pristine beach and a welcome respite from the crush of traffic and people in Canggu and Seminyak. At Bali Hai Resort you, can take a book out to the seaside bale or enjoy a cocktail while watching the incredible sunsets.
The staff and proprietress are friendly, charming, and professional. Really, the service is several notches above that which we’ve experienced at price points four and five times higher. There is an attention to detail and personal touches that are extremely hard to come by at most establishments on this island. The kitchen staff are inventive and accomplished- you won’t be disappointed.
If you are planning a trip to Western Bali, you cannot do better than this. Perfect for families, groups of friends, and those seeking surf, sun, ...
Read moreThis resort offers a lil piece of paradise tucked away in Bali. The black sandy beaches is so beautiful and clean with amazing sunsets! The staff is friendly and was very attentive to all your needs. We ate at the in house Black Sands restaurant and the food was yummy, fresh and delicious (and those smoothies amazing). We also made use of the in-house spa services which was an added bonus and definitely some of the best massages i have ever had! The location is a bit further away from everything but the resort has everything you need. Highly...
