I was anticipating to visit this beach club (apparently one of the newer clubs) despite it falling short for its weaker Google ratings compared to a few others. But everything already went wrong at the beginning - thankfully it was just at the beginning.
Do note that you will be welcomed with a big sign called Nuanu City - Luna Beach Club is just part of the Nuanu City establishment. With that, you have to pay an entrance fee of IDR20000 have access to the other parts of the establishment or to hop on to the buggy. (the beach club is far from the main entrance)
I am fine with the entrance fee but not the system to hop on to a buggy - is there even a queue system? People haphazardly rushed towards the seats upon the arrival of a buggy. Some locals even singlehandedly hog the whole row of seat for their friends - a row can accommodate 4 passengers. While the wait for the next buggy is relatively short, I was expecting a more systematic allocation of seats for such a distinguished establishment. This is not very ideal especially when there are elderly and young patrons.
We had made a booking earlier that day; so upon arrival to the beach club, we were brought to pre-booked Sunset Sofa seat after some security bag check. The seat that we have booked is front seat - just perfect for the Fire Dance performance but the music can be too loud for interactions. For the sunset sofa seat with a maximum capacity of 8 people, we paid around IDR3000000 before other charges and taxes. But from this booking fee, there are credits for our meals and drinks.
While waiting for sunset, we went down to the beach for some relaxation time. The black sand beach is very clean and well maintained.
The fire dance was spectacular; and the dancers exhibited their best performance. For the food, most of them are quite delicious but some food options like pizzas are not available (there is pizza on the menu but was told those are only available at the Utopia Cave Club). Nevertheless we went over to the Utopia Beach Club to take a dip in the pool, and to have fun at the water slide (I suggest you remove your spectacles as we had a hard time finding one that went missing while sliding down).
Back to the food and drinks, we ordered a few alcoholic drinks within their 1-1 promo timing (forgot the timing but the staff will let you know about the promotion). We ordered mostly finger food for sharing - Banging Hummus, Sweet Potato Fries, Crispy Marinated Portobello Mushroom Burger, Spicy Crispy Chicken Burger, Crispy Tofu Wontons, Korean Fried Chicken, Japanese Pork & Prawn Gyoza and Crispy Breaded Squid. I would say for the price paid, the food portion is quite filling for a party of 6 - more importantly the quality and taste is great.
It has been an overall pleasant experience but only a mediocre rating was given due to the haphazard buggy ride and also there are insufficient shower rooms and the changing room is a little too small - it gets very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLuna Beach Club, Nyanyi, Bali: Nyanyi is the new development playground of Bali ā roll in Beach Club, loud dance music to the backdrop of the crashing waves, swanky eateries and Russian plastic surgerised invasion that you (and the world) are now tired of. Itās sense overload here, delivering an experience you havenāt quite encountered. Day and night visits are a must, as the difference is as stark as ā day and night. Light shows and projections take your breath away in the evening. In the day, the blue of the sea soothes. If youāre an Enid Blyton fan like I am, youāll remember āThe Magic Faraway Treeā and āEnchanted Woodsā. This is it.
Table 369 ā The highlight of Luna Beach Club and a true homage to bamboo architecture, the tree form will draw gasps and gawps. The architecture is nothing short of standout. In the evening, light projections on the main dance stage and THX Tower are spectacular. Everything rattan, bamboo, green played off with changing lights turn on the magic. Dining here isnāt cheap, but Iād say, itās damn worth it. Presentation and tastes are of another dimension. Grilled octopus is tender, and the Asian flavours play off well. Absolutely order trout carpaccio for a theatrical presentation. Hummus was so rich, and you can absolutely taste the extra in the extra virgin oil. I had a comp birthday cake so thank you very much, crew.
Luna Beer Garden ā The kickback sister of Table 369, rattan is a dominant theme like Table 369. Throw in the sea and the crashing waves, and this is a minted spot. BBQ is the name of the game here and come evening, itās a good spot to lounge as you watch these never-seen-before Gotham lights bounce off into the waves. They have incredible scale deals here ā daily specials like unlimited wings on Wednesday and $499 unlimited cocktails ā which I did. All cocktails were well executed ā neat and gorgeous in presentation. Thereās absolutely no skimping. I even broke my pescatarian diet to try buffalo wings which I havenāt had since living in New York and damn, theyāre good at second round after I sent the first batch back for being undercooked. Prawn pizza isnāt the best but decent pub grub.
Jelly Beans ā Gelato bar by day and bar den by night. This was the most wicked and playful of all the offerings at Luna Beach Club. Looking more like a cirque du soleil set up than an ice cream bar, the acrobatics you get is the turning tub of incredulous gelato flavours packed with yummy stuff that turn hypnotically, lulling you into a trance to buy. Great value indulgence is the Dulce Gelato martini which comes with a scoop of gelato IN your martini and a double whammy scoop of Dulce gelato in a cup on the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a great place to disconnect, chill out and have some fun.
The facilities are great with some areas still to be completed, what is complete is excellent.
There are different areas you can book, some have a minimum spend attached which is paid with the booking.
The food was perfect for the environment. It is not aimed at fine dining (which wouldn't fit with the feel of the place) but rather a menu which has something for everyone.
Travel time from Kuta is approx 1.5hrs each way. The traffic in Bali has now slowed to +/- average of 10 kphr.
Your reservation (areas can be selected from the map on the web site) are kept for 30 mins after your booked arrival time, best not to be late.
You arrive at a car park area within a 5 minute drive from the venue, there is plenty of parking. You are then shuttled to and from the venue in electric open style buses that seat approx 12 people.
The staff throughout do everything possible to look after your every wish, they are very polite, friendly, efficient and accommodating. The venue is very well run and efficient. The staff in particular are a credit (to themselves) and the CEO/Owner.
We were there from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm (it is open midday to midnight daily). I thought 8 hours would be ample, we could have stayed longer very easily but fitted in with our booked transport back to Legian.
You can just sit, people watch and chill out, explore the premises and swim in the pools, you are waited on (this varies depending on the area you have booked) or if in a group live the day as if it was your last.
You have access to all areas no matter which area you have booked. We booked the Utopia Cave Club, once getting there we found the shape of the lounges were not idea to lay on. We requested to be moved to the central area and was given a fully shaded open front "cocoon" adjacent to the upper level (larger) pool. This was perfect, heaps of room for two to lay on a large shaded bed and a few steps from the main restaurant. The staff were all magic in accommodating our request to move.
The experience will be different for everyone and dependant on age with/without children etc.
It is very evident that a lot of thought had gone into the layout, management of guests, catering for what guests would typically need and want for a day out. This effort and thought rates ten out of ten given the results, combined with well trained and efficient staff earns the experience...
