Pizza Casa Italia — Restaurant in Riau Islands

Awesome place you should visit if u r in Bintan. We went there for Pizza and to meet the person who started this place. Unfortunately he was not there and we were told he went to Italy! We went ahead and ordered pizza. The staff working there does not understand much English. Hopefully our taxi driver knew and did translation for us. We ordered chicken pizza, mushroom pizza, and one cheese pizza. Pizza is a lot different from what you must have eaten else where. It is thin crust, has lot of flour and i would say quite perfectly baked in one of there old brick oven. You can sit inside near to kitchen area or there are wooden benches outside on/near beach. There are only wooden benches to sit. Ample of parking space available. It is on the beach. There is an island nearby which you can go by walk when water levels are low. Lots of sitting space available. Its better to check first whether its open or close as we had missed it on our one of bintan visit. U get water, cold drinks,...

Wanted to check out given all of the good reviews, but we weren’t impressed. The pizza was average at best and dry. They have this incredible setting with an adorable island right in front - so cute, but the beach is absolutely covered in rubbish and sand flies. We tried to walk to the island at low tide - couldn’t get past 2 metres without literally swarms of sand flies, it was really bad. I’m no expert, but if that beach was in my backyard, I’d be cleaning it everyday from all that plastic rubbish and doing something about those flies! Would recommend if only for the gorgeous view of the little island in front, but the rubbish, sand flies and dirty atmosphere really let this place down significantly. They could really make something of this place...

I went here with friends few weeks ago. We arrived 4 pm, clearly see the watch before we enter the place and they still put OPEN sign. When we want to order for dine in the waitress told that they couldn’t cook again because they closed at 5pm. We said that we will finish in 30minutes because we just want to eat. Then the other waitress (from kitchen) rudely said “let them go, I don’t want to cook”. For the owner you better find staff who appreciates your customer. We know and respect their working time. Going to this place is an effort itself and rejecting customer because too lazy to cook again is something disrespectful. If it’s closed just turn the CLOSED sign in front of the place.
