This is trully hidden gem in Jogja. Just a slight further from the hustle and bustle of Jalan Kaliurang, and you will mesmerized by its beautiful and majestic Mount Merapi view. As vast as your eyes can roam. Fresh and clean air with sound of water running from nearby small creek. Helpful service and you can even talk with the charming and friendly owner. For travellers with disability(ies)-- wheel chairs, crutch-- or people who travel with older people and kids, this place is ACCESSIBLE (just a little bit less slope for the main entrance ramp). As someone who lives in the city, the food in my opinion was great, serves authentic “kampung food” which was tasteful and relatively cheap for tourists. The highlight of the place is obviously the majestic sight of Mt. Merapi that we were lucky enough to see on a blue sky with only a few clouds covering the top. The place is also quiet with a bit of chatter heard by other customers talking, making the place sort of peaceful… even though cars pass by in front. The staff were also friendly. The place was also equipped with clean throne toilets...

On a clear day you'd be able to see the Merapi mountain, hence the name Bale Merapi. Unfortunately, it's cloudy during our early morning visit. The traditional Javanese foods are served in buffet style, you can pick and choose anything you like, then the cashier will take note on your bill. Bale is quite popular with cyclists, at least 8 bikers are having their breakfast on a Saturday...
