We accidentally stumbled upon this restaurant since we had no idea where to have lunch in Sekotong (we were on our way to our hotel from the mangrove forest).
A tour guide at the parking lot initially asked us where we wanted to go, then immediately directed us to the dock to cross the sea with a boat to reach this place, which was such a nice experience (we didn't even have any plans to cross to the nearby island). She told us to wave our hands to the people on the restaurant, then a boat would pick us up (we had to wait for a while since the people didn't see us at the beginning, but finally we got our seats!).
The restaurant floated in the middle of the sea, so we could feel the turbulence every time the waves hit (it felt like nausea in the first trimester of pregnancy). It was pretty uncomfortable for me (since I was pregnant) and I felt a bit dizzy staying up there. But it was all worth the scenery surrounding this eatery.
We initially attempted to order the seafood sets since it was included in the menu. However, the waiter said the sets were no longer available. Therefore, we ordered two portions of steamed rice (Rp7,000 each), sauteed bean sprouts (Rp20,000), water spinach pelecing (Rp20,000), a grilled pomfret (bawal) (Rp60,000), a grilled pearl lobster (Rp504,000), a fresh young coconut (Rp25,000), and two glasses of orange juice (Rp18,000 each). These prices have yet included the 10% of VAT tax and 2% of service charge.
The grilled lobster blew my mind; it tasted sweet since it was freshly caught, and the grilled sauce emphasized its flavor even more. However, the portion was too small for me and my husband (though the price already explained the weight). My daughter was more fond of the pomfret; the grilled sauce was not spicy at all so she enjoyed every bite of it. The sauteed bean sprouts tasted too garlicky for me, yet I could still indulge in it to pair with the lobster. My husband seemed to enjoy the pelecing more than the sprouts.
However, the refreshment didn't really meet our expectations. The coconut was a little bit older, so it was difficult to scoop the meat out. The orange juice was also a bit too sour for our liking, and the ice melted super quickly (it was a super hot sunny day).
Overall, it was nice to have a new lunch experience like this. It is worth noting that they receive card payments, so don't worry if you forget to...
