Disappointing Experience
As someone who rarely writes restaurant reviews, I feel compelled to share my experience at this establishment.
We were two families totaling ten people—four parents and six children—enjoying the last day of our trip in Lombok before returning to Jakarta for work the next day.
Around 1 PM, we arrived for lunch, and it quickly became apparent that the restaurant's operations were poorly managed. After placing our orders, we waited over an hour for our food. When we inquired about the delay, the waitstaff went to check with the kitchen and returned to inform us that it would be another 15 minutes.
As we continued our conversation, it became increasingly concerning that our food had not yet arrived, especially since we noticed other patrons who arrived after us had already been served and left.
Eventually, I approached the waiter who had taken our order. To my surprise, when I expressed my frustration, she responded with, “If I go to the kitchen and find that your food hasn’t been prepared, do you want to cancel your order?”
Out of the ten items we ordered, eight arrived late—taking more than an hour and a half—while two dishes never made it to our table at all. After waiting for over two hours and feeling quite hungry, we decided to leave. When I went to settle the bill, the waiter informed me that my dish had been given to someone else, which is why I never received my meal.
Throughout the ordeal, the staff offered their apologies three times and provided a 10% discount. However, this does little to compensate for the time wasted and our hunger.
After leaving, we decided to try Kebun Kopi restaurant, which turned out to be the complete opposite of Mahakala restaurant. My lunch was served in just 10 minutes, even though they had a large number of customers. The food was delicious, and the waitstaff were friendly, always smiling and laughing, which made for a much more enjoyable experience.
Out of curiosity, I asked my family about the dishes that were served at Mahakala. To our dismay, they did not meet our expectations, as we have a different taste in food.
Given this experience, we will not be returning to Mahakala restaurant, nor can I recommend it to others. However, if you have the patience to wait over two hours for your food and don't prioritize taste, this place may still suit you. For us, it was a disappointing end to our trip, but Kebun Kopi restored our faith in dining out during our...
Read moreI stayed 4 nights in Sembalun with family. My husband met the owner, Naufal, who's a very nice and helpful guy. We decided to visit his cafe and was in an awe such place exists in Sembalun. The view, the hospitality, the menu, everything was amazing. We dined in there 3 times during our 4 days stay. Second time went there with my mum in law, enjoying amazing live music, even requested special song for our bday niece, with lush golden valley view and delicious coffee and meal. He even let my mum in law borrowed one of his book for a light reading. The last visit was just before we left Sembalun. We stopped by for morning coffee, and he specifically asked the staff to serve us with the best service. One of the waiter, Muja, has also amazingly served us since day 1 with his decent English and great hospitality. Oh, try their calamari rings. It was finger-licking good. And their pasta also tasty, my mum in law loves it. Definitely gonna come back if we ever visit...

The panoramic views of the surrounding landscape create a picturesque backdrop, making it an ideal place to unwind. The coffee is expertly brewed, providing a rich and flavorful experience, while the strawberry smoothie is a delightful treat, bursting with fresh, local strawberries.
Their selection of croissants is equally impressive; the sweet ones are flaky and buttery, filled with decadent chocolate and bannana, while the savory options, like ham and cheese, are equally delicious. It is must-stop destination for anyone seeking a tranquil escape with...
