Ryan Cafe — Epic Sunset Spot With Room for Improvement on Service

Went to Ryan Cafe for sunset — it’s definitely one of the most popular spots in Kuta to enjoy the view, and the scenery did not disappoint. The panoramic sunset was absolutely beautiful. A nice touch: they have chairs made from recycled old tires, which I found creative and sustainable.

What we ordered: • Jamu mix – 45k • Fresh coconut – 30k

The jamu was okay. The coconut had a very sour taste, which usually means it was unripe or not fully fresh. I let the staff know, but their only response was, “That’s a fresh coconut.” In most places, if something like that happens, they immediately offer to replace it. Unfortunately, here I was left with a bad product I didn’t drink but still had to pay for.

Service feedback: That kind of reaction was disappointing, especially in a place that’s so popular. A simple exchange or acknowledgment would’ve gone a long way.

Final thoughts: Come here for the sunset and the vibe, but manage your expectations when it comes to service and how they handle...

The view is incredible but the food is disappointing, especially for the price. The staff were very kind but that was the worst (and most expensive) cap cay I’ve ever had. The nasi goreng (45k is excessive, even with such a view) was manageable only because we had been toasting in the sun for a good 2.5 hours before this and there weren’t many options for other places to eat along the way. There was trash everywhere and literally smelled like we were eating in a garbage bin…there were hordes of flies as well. Once again, incredibly nice staff but the overall experience...

I've been traveling to Indonesia for twenty years. They tried to pass off a beef rendang to me thinking I wouldn't know what real rendang is. They gave me a plate of food that had barely any rendang and the seasoning and sauce was watery. Rendang is not watery with liquid. The plate was 50% white rice, 25% beef rendang, and 25% oily stir fried vegetables. Their juices were over 40K, double the price they should be. Nice view I guess but wouldn't come back here because the food was not memorable and the coffee is instant coffee but charging...

El sitio está bien sobre todo si te pilla de paso, los precios son económicos y tienen mesitas y sillas para ver el atardecer tomando algo. Está a 10 minutos de Kuta Lombok y tiene bastante aparcamiento para motos
