Arrived here 8 minutes before they close down for lunch. I didn't pay them a visit for a long time and went there thinking they would be in their old place, but they have moved to the building on the opposite side of the street. And fun fact, their parking entrance is located at the alley next to where their entrance is located, well at least they offer parking now, because back then this was not an option. Unfortunately this place is located in one of the most crowded Streets in tehran, just going through their street took around 50 minutes for us (that's why we arrived so late) finding their parking entrance was relatively easy and we went up to try our chances, they resisted a bit in the beginning but after talking with people inside, thet let us go in. It happened all really too fast as they wanted to close the kitchen and it was ok with us, we ordered one Shishlik (Iranian version of the famous Shashlik) made with lamb meat, amrinated and skewered, grilled on charcoal. This place is one of the few places in tehran which seems to use genuine meat from the Original place or Shandiz , a city located in an eastern states of iran which is famous for its meat and their restaurant (it's not for nothing, it's seriously amazing and i had some of my best kebabs there) This place is expensive, located in an expensive area it is also expected from them, but what you don't expect is the lack of hospitality and how they serve the food, despite its prices, what they offer is exactly like the cheapest restaurants on the side of some random road, they have plastic sheets on all their tables to clean the table as fast as they can, they have no starters, no dessert and nor much of a design in the main hall. Don't get me wrong they are not rude or cheap, it's just how their restaurant is built, they want to induce the same experience we would've gotten back in the original City. As mentioned the prices are high, but from what i remember the portions were big, but this time was not what I remembered. Specially their confit Lamb meat was not as big as before and they definitely had bigger portions back then. Their confit lamb was nothing special this time, it wasn't even salted and it was too oily, it wasn't slowly cooked enough so it wasn't soft enough. Their Shishlik was good, not exactly what you will get in the city of Shandiz but the closest to it in Tehran. It was a bit on the dryer side but still enjoyable, nicely marinated with onions and seasoned well. It didn't have any onions stuck to it while cooking therefore no bitter taste of burnt onions, had a really nice taste, soft and had a pleasant taste of meat. They also offered some sides, some yogurt and a traditional olive made in northern style. If you visit this place, don't expect fine dining even though their prices indicate one, but you can expect some delicious Shishlik l if you are...
Read moreIf you’re craving some next-level kebabs in Tehran, Shandiz Jordan is seriously one of the top places you’ve gotta try—especially if you’re into shishlik. I’m not even exaggerating when I say it might just be the best shishlik in the city. Juicy, perfectly marinated, cooked just right—tender but still packed with flavor. It’s honestly the kind of meal that makes you stop talking mid-bite just to savor what’s happening in your mouth.
The restaurant itself has a kind of classic, clean vibe. Nothing over-the-top fancy or luxurious, but it feels nice, comfortable, and professional. The staff are polite and relatively fast, especially on weekdays when it’s not too crowded. But be warned—on holidays and weekends, it gets really busy. Like, really busy. If you don’t have a reservation, be ready to wait a bit, especially during lunch or dinner peak hours. It’s a popular spot for families and business lunches too, so the crowd can get pretty mixed.
Now let’s talk about the real reason you’re going there: the food. Their shishlik is the star of the show, no doubt. Massive ribs, grilled to perfection, and the portion sizes are super generous. It comes with perfectly cooked saffron rice, grilled tomatoes, maybe a bit of butter on top—just classic Persian style, done right. You get all the rich, smoky flavors without feeling like it’s too greasy or heavy. It’s honestly the kind of meal that makes you want to come back again the next week.
They also have other kebabs like koobideh, barg, and chicken, and they’re all great, but if it’s your first time, go for the shishlik. Trust me, you won’t regret it. The koobideh is juicy and flavorful, and their lamb chops are a solid backup option too if you’re feeling adventurous.
One of the things I really appreciate about Shandiz Jordan is that the prices match the quality. Sure, it’s not a budget-friendly place, but considering the portion sizes, the quality of meat, and how well everything is done, it feels totally fair. You’re getting what you pay for, and then some. It’s definitely a place you can take guests to impress or treat yourself after a long week.
Service is decent—nothing fancy or overbearing, but they get the job done and usually with a smile. They’re pretty attentive, and they don’t keep you waiting forever for your food, even on busy days.
All in all, Shandiz Jordan is a must-visit if you’re in Tehran and love Persian kebabs. Especially if you’re into meat that falls off the bone and leaves you full but happy. Just try to avoid the rush hours or call ahead, and...
Read moreThe most overrated restaurant in Tehran. The luxury Shandiz restaurant looks awesome from outside, but when it comes to what a restaurant should provide ( good quality food and services), it fails painfully.
Food: I have to admit that they collect quality meet, but the way they cook it ruins the texture and the taste of it. The meet, especially shishlik, is not evenly cooked. They also use a lot of salt to prepare meet which makes it tasteless. Service: surprisingly they do not serve cold drinks, rather bring a warm bottled drink along with an ice bucket. That's not as hygienic as I expect such a restaurant to be. Moreover, since one pays a huge amount of money(of course in Rial) here, one should expect top quality glasses and cutlery. However, one can easily see the many traces of long use on those things. It seems that they invest more than expected in building the new place. Staff: although many guys are prepared to serve customers, chaotic arrangement of them makes it hard for customers to eat comfortably. It is so weird that whenever the staff are not occupied, they gather together and start chatting loudly, roaming in between the tables, watching peoples mouth while they are eating and talking about a certain customer while looking...
