I booked a dinner for six to celebrate a family birthday for 7.00 p.m. I had asked for a quiet table, this had not been noted on our arrival but being a Monday, we had a choice. The cocktails at the start (alcoholic and non were fantastic), the chip selection were delicious. The wine was lovely. The vegetarian burger was uninspiring despite sounding lovely on the menu. The Peri Peri chicken which was disappointing. The chicken itself was lovely but the sauce was clunky and unbalanced in its flavour, the sweet potato and chorizo were noticeably absent. When we ordered another drink, we were told the bar was closed, no forewarning at 8.00 p.m. approx. We were also told that the staff party was on outside... hint, hint - hurry up and leave! We pointed out that we were not told the bar was closing and drinks were brought, we added on another non alcoholic cocktail immediately - thankfully we were not charged as this was undrinkable. Deserts were brought which included a lemon tart that had neon green lime sauce out of a bottle that is used on 99 ice creams. Disappointing. Furious cleaning was going on around us and by 8.30 we gave up and went home. We were uncomfortable as it was clear we were not welcome at this stage. The staff party looked like it was going to be a good evening, lovely that they were having it at the Anglers but management should have closed the restaurant for the evening out of respect for the staff and customers, especially the staff who had to work. Paying was another disaster, overall it was good value but the inability to work a voucher, take a tip and understand simple maths was...

Would not recommend going as a big group as I don’t think they are well equipped/cater very well for this. Everyone has to get the same meal at an expensive price and small portions. Left feeling dissatisfied. Didn’t get what was offered even though was organised 3 weeks in advance.

Food was mediocre and luke warm. Found a bone in the orzo pasta that was for a 2 year old. Never offered dessert/condiments/water and when asked for water or condiments, we had to ask multiple times or was slow coming out.

Service was slow and disorganised, seemed like staff didn’t communicate very well with a lot of information given time of booking. Maybe understaffed? With the amount of pre planning and information given at the time of booking you’d think they would be on point with everything. This wasn’t the case. Such a disappointment.

The drinks and atmosphere/setting was lovely. The waitress and waiter were also very nice.

Bigger groups definitely need to be organised better on the night, not just through booking. The system also needs to be adjusted as trying to organise what everyone wants to eat on the night, 3 weeks in advance is awkward. Not only this but everyone needs to agree on eating the same thing… nightmare.

I have been here before with just myself and one other person and service was still very slow and food took a long time to come out (not during busy lunch time either)

Unfortunately this review would probably fall on deaf ears as they seem to not reply to any reviews. Seems like they are getting the same complaints for a good bit of time and unfortunately are still the same.

Such a shame...

There is one sure way to ensure you won't get repeat business... Throw your customers out halfway through their meal. 😬

Organised a family celebration for this restaurant last week (booked weeks in advance) with a view of spending time with the family. Party of 8 with a 60/40 split adults to children. Upon arriving, we were seated outside despite being told numerous times during booking we would be seated inside because we wanted the ala carte menu (not overly bothered but it can be rather cool under the canopy).

Food was excellent. Really good starters and main courses. Vegetarian options may be a little limiting for some but the vegetarian pizza I got was excellent.

The reason for a one-star review is the service we received. There was a very long wait (45+mins) between our starters and main course. When the mains were served, we were promptly told we would have to give the table back in 10-15 mins. We were forced to cut short our meal after less than 1h45min - no deserts, no coffees. Barely enough time to finish our mains.

I've eaten at plenty of restaurants where demand is high or they operate multiple sittings. All have been up front about needing tables back in a specific period of time. I have never encountered a restaurant accepting a booking, knowing it's for a celebration, and surprising the party in this...

Great selection of menus at the Anglers Rest. I went with the Beef Ragu Rigatoni it is a well portioned dish with lovely tender beef in great flavours. As you can see from the pictures it lived up to its menu listing and was served very quickly. By very efficient professional staff. Most definitely value for money paid. The atmosphere for the All Ireland Hurling Final was tense and excellent with many vantage points to view on various screens and tvs. The Angles rest has its own marquee and other outdoor dinning structures. That serve a very wide range of food. With outstanding views all around. Make sure to check the website menu for the most up-to-date menus and foods served. There is a link to the menus page. With its very large gardens grounds on the bend of the river lee it is very scenic it is also dog friendly. Even on such an overcast day the nature around stands out. If in Cork would highly recommend checking this Pub bar restaurant just for the experience, it is also on the way to Blarney Castle if planning a trip there. Plenty of parking good food friendly staff, good prices on the menu. A fantastic atmosphere with catering for large groups .

3rd visit - and will NOT be our last! Each time has been for Sunday lunch, and this one was a 10/10...time before I knocked off a couple of points as beef was a bit chewy, and service not-as-good...however back on track now with a 5STAR review! We were a party of two but we still booked - place is always heaving and there has been an event on in one of the function rooms each time we visited. Ordered a round of drinks then straight into a roast. Oddly this time no yorkshires?? I didn't ask why but maybe should have, surely this is a staple with roast beef. The plate was HEAVING with food, slabs of beef - LUSH and veggies underneath. Carrots were soooo tasty, well it all was. If you like a fair amount of gravy I would ask for more when you order. I did. PERFECT. Ah yes, and then I went for dessert - Selection of Ice Cream. DELISH... This last visit was early November however very Christmassy and welcoming as you will see from the decorations. HO HO HO! Cannot wait to go back to be honest.

Went to The Angler's for a party and I hadn't been there in years. My first impression was, it's looking great, it's clean and modern, and there was a great buzz about the place. We were situated in the marque area to the right of the bar. There was a soccer match on and there was an enormous TV projection screen in the open area. Honestly, if you were into soccer, I couldn't think of a better place to look at the game, overlooking the water and the sun shining with a pint in your hand. The food was good, the service was friendly and the staff attended to the party's needs well. I had a freshly cooked pizza out of a wood fire pizza oven and it was top class! I passed through the main bar and it looked really inviting, candles, snugs, and a warm atmosphere. The only one niggle I had was that the car park is in the other side of an incredibly busy and fast stretch of road, so if you are going there with kids, do be very careful going to and coming from the bar!
