Firstly the menu selection was vast and reasonably priced, the staff there were really pleasant and very attentive. I had the pork belly and garlic prawns to start and unfortunately the pork belly was wayyy over done and could hardly chew through what was meant to be the crackling I presume, prawns were...uuummmm. The main course certainly made up for it, I again chose the pork option and it was the pork medallions with a mango and honey ? Purée on a bed of mash with fresh vegetables. I also ordered some homemade onion rings to go on the side. The meal was beautiful, meat was succulent and sauce well balanced, the accompanying vegetables were spot on and beer battered onion rings were perfectly crispy and stayed that way all throughout the meal. My Wife also had a fantastic meal and finally I topped it off with the apple and berry crumble with custard, again perfect. The guys here are really friendly and genuinely I would highly recommend this place to anyone. I'll...

I’ve just been here for the first time. Celebrating my 47th birthday with my family. It’s always nice to be greeted with warm friendly smiles. We were made feel very welcome from the off. There was a nice relaxed atmosphere even though it was busy and we got to our table quickly. The staff were very good, very efficient and attentive and the menu offered a nice selection to choose from. The food itself was spot on. Cooked perfectly, presented elegantly but not over the top, fresh and tasty. I had fish and chips with mushy peas. The batter had a lovely crunch and the fish was very good. The steaks the others ordered were exactly as they asked for. The fact that little or nothing was left on any plate is testament enough. A very enjoyable first visit rounded off with a lovely rendition of Happy Birthday sung by the staff choir 😊. Thank you very very much for a wonderful evening. We’ll definitely...

On an road trip to Quin Friary which was closed by the time we arrived but we still managed to have a look around and take in some of the history of the ancient structure which was visited by many people in its time. We managed to venture around the site and look at the graveyards and we also went to have a bite to eat at the bar and bistro which was lovely by all means, we order some soup, coffee, and onion rings which was super nice and friendly staff and good atmosphere.

Edit: second time to come here, really lovely food, location and great service, and very affordable price for BLT, soup, onion...

The Abbey Tavern is my local bistro and bar, my wife and I dine here most Friday evenings, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the bar and bistro is very clean and cozy, if you are thinking of dining here I would recommend looking at the specials board before it's removed at 7pm. there is often a very nice fish dish on it, The quality of food is excellent and it is plane to see that the chef loves his work,

When we get hungry, we stop, pull up Google maps and look for the highest rated pub or restaurant nearby and it has yet to let us down. A beautiful setting across from the old abbey, staff are friendly and the food and service top notch!! This was the best lamb I've had in 2 visits to Eire in 2 months, definitely worth seeking out!
