Larkins of Newmills Bar and Restaurant — Restaurant in County Donegal

Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and then we sat down and ordered and all was well. Food was very good and came in the time you would expect for something that was getting cooked just for you (not stacked up on a hotplate out the back). The service was initially good to very good but as a few more arrived the focus of the staff drifted to only spending and looking after the locals. My food came without a fork and after a wait I went to the bar to ask for one to be promptly told to ask her there now as the server came from the kitchen. I asked her and she stomped off and came back with a fork and handed it to me without an apology or any formal acknowledgement. We didn't have anyone return to our table to see what desserts we wanted but people who had came in half an hour after us were having their's. There was a more mature lady there who was lovely but we felt like we were an inconvenience to the younger staff. In the end I went to the bar and asked for our bill. I left approx 7 Euros as a tip but that was solely to show some appreciation of the quality of the food.

Over all terrible experience. Came in for Easter Dinner, was seated with no menus. When the waitress did eventually give them. She failed to inform us of anything they had run out of. We placed our order 3 different times because she kept coming back letting us know they had run out of the options we selected. We finally got served drinks, which were wrong. After a second return when she had to ask again! What drinks had we ordered. Because through out the whole service she had no notepad or book to take down anyone's order. And seemed to be doing it all by memory. We decided to get up and leave, definitely will not be returning. Very dissatisfied...

I have been eating in this restaurant for many years. Great food, great customer service and always had a great time. Unfortunately the restaurant was taking over by new management recently and the food started to go down badly and also the customer service as well. I would of rated this restaurant a 10 for everything but now with the new management and how bad the food and service is I would rate this place a 3 of 10.
