Mountain Top Diner — Restaurant in County Donegal

So much potential but the staff let them down so much. The place was extremely quiet however it took an extremely long time for orders to be taken/ about a twenty minute wait for food. Plates were only cleared after a fifth attempt at getting the attention of a server as they were all chatting. I was given a dirty spoon and had to ask for another. A lady who I assume was the manager/supervisor stood behind the counter (right infront of our table) on her phone and having chats about her plans with another staff member. The job of a manager /supervisor is to be the eye's of the business and to direct and guide. Considering there was a pile of empty plates at the end of our table and she was too busy on her phone and chatting personal lives to notice the customers RIGHT INFRONT OF HER trying to gain her attention.. the role has not been met in the slightest. Another customer had to ask 5 times for his takeaway order as staff members just walked straight by him. For the price of the food, the standard overall is through the floor. I should not leave a restaurant knowing the exact coffee orders for the chef's in the kitchen as clearly their orders are priority over a paying customer. Absolutely disgusted with Kelly's now, I've giving it the benefit of the doubt over COVID after a staff member shamed a OAP and refused them as they didn't have a vaccine cert yet waved in a northern car without checking a cert. To date that staff member still remains there, most unfriendly unhelpful waiter or what ever his position is, in June of this year, we sat for over 15 minutes to get served for him to abruptly say "you need to order on the app we don't take orders up here", why sit us there then? July of this year at 13:02 we entered, we sat, we waited for 12 mins to get served staff was tripping over one another may i add the waitress was lovely at 13:22 we received our drinks, getting hungry now at 13:53 still no food so we got up and paid for our drinks to not even an apology for the wait from said male waiter who was beyond caring as always, AI will not replace that male waiter but yet again we wouldn't get cheek or back talk from a robot. This place has quickly become a favourite of mine after a few more visits, the staff are very friendly, they have an updated menu for those on diets, if you are left waiting for a long time during a busy hour you usually get your drinks compensated, the food isn't amazing but it is still good, the wait times for food even when busy is low and the quantity of food is very good for the price. Well priced and very reasonable. Still very child friendly but majority of the time the children are we behaved.

Old review: Place was quite busy with lots of children around (some well behaved other screeching). Menu was decently varied but contained no real information about what was ingredients were in the food (ended up with coleslaw even though the menu didn't say the burger had coleslaw on it). The time from ordering to the food being served was quick enough but the food itself was uneventful and you could probably create a nicer dish at home, chef seemed to be allergic to spices.
