When returning to Galway, from our visit to the Aran Islands, we were hungry for seafood. We did a search, and found Padraicins, located right on the coast line of Furbo Beach.

It was cold, windy, and misty outside, but the view overlooking the coastline from within the warm restaurant was beautiful.

Service was ok. Very cordial and very friendly, but we had to flag the servers down several times for drinks and for the bill.

The food was AWESOME though!

We ordered the Padraicins Seafood Platter (which was an ungodly amount of food). It was €28.50 but included a huge bucket of mussels cooked in a butter sauce (the server estimated about 40 in the bucket), calamari with coconut/coriander/sweet chilli dressing, smoked salmon, a pile of what appeared to be a crab salad with apples, celery, onions, parsley, and mayo. Homemade soda bread, and a side salad were also included. This was a TON of food and it was all quite tasty!

We also ordered was the Vegetable Penne Pasta Arrabiata for €14.50 It was served with cherry tomatoes, red onion, peppers, fresh chilli, and drizzled in a fresh basil and tomato sauce with “fresh rocket.” (which I had to Google before I ordered). It’s apparently another name for arugula.

The bottom line is, if you are looking for a great seafood place near this little harbor town, Padraicins is THE place to stop! Even if you have to go out of your way to get to it. The views are awesome, and the food is...

We just ate here this evening and spent over 70€ on food that was not worth the money. We were Two adults, two children - aged 5 and 2 1/2 - and an infant. The service was lonely that is not in question, but the food was below average. The two kids dishes we chose - sausage beans and chips - were terrible. Chips were ridiculously hard and sharp for a child under 6, never mind a two year old - the sausages smelled very bad (extremely cheap rate sausage meat) and the beans were cold. For the children each dish was 10€ with no desert included. Very bad form. From the menu if you did not choose the sausage dish you could choose fish and chips but a child’s portion was 12€. Completely overpriced and not an option for most parents. We orders a baby bowl - it consisted of soup and potato - and it was so extremely boiling hot that it was still piping hot by the time we left over 30 minutes later. It smelled like the potatoes were stale or the soup was stale - either way with all that we couldn’t feed the infant that so he ate from my husband's dish. My adults evening menu salad portion had five lettuce leaves and very little chicken I would really describe it as a starter portion. My husbands bacon and cabbage was very average and to showcase Irish cuisine is was a pathetic example. No atmosphere. Servers had masks on and the place was too hot. Will certainly not...

Unfortunately we didn’t have a great evening here. Was looking forward to a relaxing evening with sea views BUT the service was appalling. To start off with myself and my friend ordered steak one well done one medium rare. Both came out medium well and when we asked we were told “ that’s how the chef does it “ and that was that. But what sealed there fate to this terrible review was we ordered a pint of coors and it came in a Heineken glass (not an issue) but after having coors light and having tastebuds we discovered in fact that it was Heineken. When approaching the bar we were met with rudeness and ignorance. Handed back the full pint and asked for a new one, after receiving the third pint it tasted off but we weren’t complaining. When we got the bill we discovered they charged us for all 3 pint ( one was returned full) when we mentioned it they physically took the 3rd pint off us rudely and horribly. So all we had was the 1 pint. Charged for 2. If I could give anyone advise when considering this establishment, the views are lovely but enjoy it from the outside. DONT GO IN, if you value you’re time and money and if you don’t want to spend the day in a bad mood and shocked by terrible service. Only good thing about the place is the door out of it. Very unfortunate has...
