Today we went to Barne lodge for lunch at 1pm, we rang ahead and booked a table for 4 adults and 3 children. When we arrived we were shown to a table that was too small (a table for 4). We asked could we have the bigger table to fit us all and we were reluctantly given another table as it was reserved but after we had to explain to the lady again that we had rang and booked the lady realised it was reserved for us. We were then told she would only allow one high chair at the table as she needed room to walk passed. So we did that and my son (2) sat at the table and my 4 month old in his pram. My nephew who is also 2 had the high chair which we replaced one of the chairs for. So why we couldnāt do this for another child baffled me as there was plenty of room and it would have been at either end of the table, not the sides where you walk. We then asked could we have a kids menu to be then told they donāt do kids menus. This was odd as it states on the menu ākids menu availableā. We also asked for squash to which she didnāt reply and walked off. After been bluntly asked were we ready to order I said we were still looking but could I order some garlic bread for my son. This is what we do wherever we go, order his food first. As anyone around kids will know they canāt stay seated and quiet for a long time before they eat as they are only small. Most restaurants recommend ordering for kids first in my experience as they know it keeps everyone at the table happy. The lady then told me no she wouldnāt be doing that and we are to order altogether as she wonāt be doing a separate order to the kitchen. This shocked us as it would be the same thing as one of us ordering a starter and the others not? I asked not even for the kids so they are not waiting and she snapped NO. She then said so are ye ready to order or not?! At this point we had enough and left. So we packed up the kids and went. She never even uttered a word as we packed up to go. I never leave reviews or even complain but it was extremely bad service. And as a mum of two young kids it is hard enough to decide on a meal out let alone to be treated like this. None of us will be back and itās such a shame as it is completely due to the really bad service...
