Have been here many times and the food and service is always impeccable. But not on this visit. There is always a wait time for food, this is fine it's usually worth the wait. But while waiting for food 3 people who ordered at the counter after us were all called and given food before us, which became frustrating. Then a person who again ordered after us and who clearly had a good day was slightly tipsy was given food which was not his order they called him back when they released theistake it wasn't his order, put the food back in and gave it to the next person waiting (after the food had been handled, and I mean hands all over it) I was disgusted by this. Eventually we were called for our food, it was packed up given to us. When we sat to eat all was in order apart from one large fish and chip, it was half full, the smaller fish and chip we ordered had more chips in the box than this supposed large portion. We had three other large fish and chips on the table to compare it to. Overall it was an unpleasant experience and while I know my opinion will not affect the business I won't be returning or recommending as I previously did. Very...

Great food, friendly service. Brilliant price point. Really charming scenery.

Takes an age to get the food though. I've been a few times, and even when I was the only person there, it took 20-30 minutes to get my food. I presume part of what makes the food so nice is they genuinely are cooking it entirely fresh, but it means there's always a long wait to get the food. If there's a queue, it can take forever.

But the food is worth the wait, in the end. And if you top it off with an ice cream from The Porthole next door, it can make for an absolutely...

Expensive! Aldi competes very well on taste, and definitely on price. Bought a bag of prawns for €11 only to find they were packaged in MANCHESTER!!! Again, peppered makarel was expensive and with a lot of bones. Again, no better than Aldi on taste (if anything, we thought they were worse due to all the bones) and a lot more expensive! Like the prawns, are other fish types out-sourced? Haven't tasted the expensive salmon yet.

Very disappointed. One bag of Manchester prawns, two salmon fillets, and one piece of makarel set us back a...

Beautiful battered fresh fish and real potato chips, all cooked to perfection. They provide benches with all your salt, vinegar and sauces right beside the kitchen but go early to avoid the queues. You know when something is good by the number of people waiting. I've often travelled to Clogherhead just to get their Fish'n'Chips - They open Thursday to Monday included for June, July and August, and just Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the rest of the year - So you can visit all the year round!

Best fish & chips in Ireland. Not an exaggeration. The batter is super light, crisp and seasoned well. The fish was probably swimming around that same morning and tasted so fresh! Generous portions, loads of fish & more chips than I could finish, and they let you pour your own vinegar & salt. 10/10 chipper
