Avoca Fern House Cafe — Restaurant in The Municipal District of Bray

massively over priced for what it is. salt in monkstown is much better. the portion size between the 2 is ridiculous. salts presentation of food is much better, they give the impression they care more about how they plate it up in salt than they do in the fern house. Quite possibly because they charge a service charge they don't really care about the service they offer in Fern house( a lot of the time you get the impression staff don't want to be there and they are just going through the motions) staff in salt couldn't do more than enough for you they have much better attention to detail they don't charge a service charge so I don't know if that makes them more inclined to engaged with customers to ensure they get a tip? however they do an amazing job and give off the impression they are now interested in their customers experience. I also don't understand tyre logic of the portions in The fern house ordering poached eggs and toast foot get THREE eggs and one slice of toast??? what's that about would love to know the logic behind that ratio. if I was to choose between the 2 Avoca premises hands down id travel to monkstown to go to salt over going to the fern house. thou they both offer fairly similar menus salt out does fern house in presentation, portion, attention to detail and staff customer...

Brought the other half there for a night out. Great onion soup and the steak, I almost couldn't finish. Other ave had fish with risotto and it was awesome. We shared the ice creams and they were superb. Great place, brilliant food, amazing staff. Cant wait to be back.

Been back countless times now. Love it. Shame dinner not there but covid is forcing changes. We shared a starter, had 2 mains and the lemon meringue is the best there. Other half had the chocolate mint mousse, lemon tart wins. Hopefully back in a week or 2.

Back again with all the family and extended, during the busiest I've seen it. And still excellent. Beef cheek and the mussels as a starter are amazing. Can't wait to get back.

Back again late December probably been here 10 times this year. Just excellent as always. Place was full and sit able to have a quiet conversation...

Have been here several times, but sadly it has gone downhill quite a lot. Restaurant was not busy, we were here for a birthday celebration as a party of 3 and were looking forward to it. Our waitress took the orders but did not use a note book. She also said she would come back for the wine order. The starters arrived after 15 minutes, at which time we reminded her about a wine order. One of the starters was a wrong choice, but nobody came to check if we were all good. Subsequently I was offered a replacement starter but it would have taken too long so we battled on. Mains were good if the duck was a bit over frazzled. When my wife went to pay she did not notice she had been charged for more wine than we had had, she was promised a refund, overall a forgettable experience from a venue which once delivered...
