AVOID at all costs!! Following a very disappointing dinner experience at The Carriage House with my Mother on Monday, June 6th, I submitted a review to Seven Rooms. (See below.) The restaurant manager, Calum Robinson, responded on Wednesday, 8th of June, with profuse apologies, asking for the opportunity 'to make this right'. By Friday, June 10th I was still waiting. I contacted Calum Robinson again on Monday, June 13th, expressing my disappointment at the lack of promised follow up. As of today, Friday, June 17th Mr Robinson has yet to 'make this right'. To ignore a customer in this manner is shameful. Especially as the Carriage House was quite happy to relieve us of almost €100. Inexcusable customer service and empty promises on behalf of the restaurant manager, Calum Robinson. Next time I'll go to Supermacs. For a fraction of the cost.
This is my third time to visit Carton House in 6 months. My Mother's birthday (review submitted December '21, pedicure early this year) As a local resident I wish I could say, third time lucky. Unfortunately on each occasion there has been a problem and this time was no different. We were met at The Carriage House by....nobody!! When we were eventually seated the table was bare of cutlery etc. I had to go looking for a member of staff to take our order. We ordered coffee which arrived with no sugar. We ordered dessert which arrived with no cutlery. If this were a school report it would read: C+..... at best! Carton House could and should offer me complimentary dinner to demonstrate what I know they're capable of. Over to you...
Read moreWhile I enjoyed the evening spent here, I’d put a lot of that on the member of staff that looked after us. The food was good and the service was friendly throughout.
Given our party size we ended up being seated outside and the weather made this quite pleasant , however as the sun started to set it was obvious that given Dublins normal weather schedule of rain, the focus hadn’t been on making the outside area as special as the inside. The setting is lovely with large trees and garden to look over but there was no fairy lights in the parasol, very little lighting at all in fact. No outdoor gas fires (unless the large black ash tray is normally a fire), no attention to detail that you’d expect from a fairmont (see fairmont whistler for the perfect example of an outdoor space done right). Tables weren’t prioritised over the inside so dirty glassware were left way longer than should have been.
Out of the extensive wine list only 2 and eventually zero wines were left despite the women’s open being over a week ago so a restock should have been done. There was also a hair in one of my parties dish that was just brushed off and one of our drinks came with crud on the glass so somethings slipping abit somewhere.
Nevertheless, enjoyed my evening here but expected more from a...
Read moreWe went for lunch, initially the service was good and our order was taken promptly. We went for the Breakfast sandwich, the club sandwich and the chicken wings, There was a slight delay and the food arrived separately, initially the wings and the breakfast sandwich and then a little later the club sandwich.
The club sandwich was big as expected at all, it was an open sandwich, that is a piece of over toasted bread with bacon, lettuce tomato and an egg on top.. when we queried was this the “club sandwich” we were told yes but it’s missing ghe chicken.. did we want to send it back?? Obviously we sent it back and it reappeared now with a breaded chicken fillet placed on top of the other items.
I have never seen such a poor club sandwich, the chicken wings were nice and the breakfast sandwich was fairly plain and disappointing.
Thereafter No one came to our table, we had to search to get some more water and also to search for a staff member to pay, and then they automatically add 10% for service!!
All in all terribly disappointing, funnily enough my companions had been in the restaurant a couple of weeks previously and enjoyed it, but as we were told when we asked about the “club sandwich” they had a number of chef changes in the...
