So stopped in here yesterday going to Cork from Dublin, as i have been since i was a kid, oh how this place has gone down hill, one of 4 of us travelling had special dietary requirements, there was nothing on the menu i could eat so i asked could I just have a toastie, was told NO, asked someone else could they ask the chef, a few minutes later a girl in a green shirt came from behind and starting speaking while my back was turned to her, she couldn't even wait to get to table and face me, she wouldn't even listen to me just said nothing i can do and walked off, then the foreign man who works there came over and asked me am i eating, i said no I'm not eating, as he walked away and turns around and says GOOD, what a disgrace he was, all i was asking for was a chicken toastie, they had a toaster right there, they had bread and they had chicken, i eventually ordered garlic bread with cheese just to have something, when i ordered that the rude foreign guy says i knew you wouldn't leave without eating with a stupid smirk on his face, the cheek of him, i was the one who recommended we stop in this so called "restaurant" the other people i was with said there food was horrible, lasagne under done, and two chickens over done, it's not restaurant quality and service isn't restaurant quality, it's not even good pub food, if your food is that bad at least have good service, do something right, it's like a horrible old dated nursing home with servers who have been working 12 hours shifts, when i went to pay and walked up to the till we asked could we pay, the rude foreign man just ignored us and walked off and didn't say anything, not even sorry I'll be back in a minute just blanked me and walked off, the owner can check the camera on that, anyway if you ever went here travelling from Dublin to Cork or are thinking about going here PLEASE don't, avoid it,they don't care if you have special dietary requirements, it's only 25 mins from Cork where you will get better food and service and in a...
Read moreMy husband and I had a 1 night stay at this hotel. The room was spacious and clean with a very comfortable bed. We ate in the restaurant where the staff were friendly and helpful. My vegetarian lasagne was not the best and thats putting it mildly. The following morning we came down for breakfast. It all seemed to be a bit of a muddle. We asked for porridge but that was not available. My second choice was granola, so I was handed an Aldi bag from behind the breakfast counter and told to pour some into a bowl. I then asked for a small bottle of apple juice at the breakfast counter but was told that was €3.00 extra. The only staff member there left with her coat on while we were in the process of getting breakfast. We then waited several minutes before another staff member appeared. Bacon way overcooked. We felt like it was an inconvenience for a staff member to serve us. For a midweek basic hotel we left over €260.00 for a one night stay with a main course dinner and drinks. No Murphys stout available either at the bar even though its brewed in Cork. When we returned to our room it had already been cleaned with beds made and fresh towels for new guests before we even checked out. We wont be returning...
Read moreHad time to spare on my way down to Cork so I diverted off the Motorway with the intention of checking out the breakfast in the Corbett Court hotel as it had been recommended to me.
I arrived just as they were opening so i was first customer in. Staff were very friendly and it was only a few minutes before I was tucking into a traditional 'Full Irish'.
Nice breakfast with all the usual .. Best though was that they gave a full pot of steaming coffee with the breakfast. This allowed me the luxury of having a cup with my breakfast and having another after breakfast as I broused the morning news online.
Only negative was that it was all so relaxing I forget the time and was nearly late for my 10am meeting in nearby Cork City.
Next time I'm due in Cork i will reschedule for 1030 and be able to deliberately linger over and enjoy my post breakfast coffee.
Enjoy the relative calm of the Corbett before you...
