The Monageer Tavern — Restaurant in The Municipal District of Gorey — Kilmuckridge

If I could give this place zero stars I would, its diabolical. I came to the restaurant as I saw all of the 5 star reviews on here about how great the place is. However my experience was by far the worst experience ive ever come across. From the begining we walked into the place we were met by what I can only describe as a walking karen that had to serve us. She asked us if she could help but not in any manner that would make you feel welcome I asked if she would have a table for 4 me my partner and my 2 kids. She said “We tell people they should make a reservation” in a tone that didnt seem very pleased, im not local I explained to her and she said she would check to see what she could do. She allowed us to sit down in a spot that clearly said reserved on it which didnt make sense. When she approached the table my children were putting the butter sachets into a little tub and counting them not doing any harm. She immediately rounded up the butters and basically confiscated it from the table like ai was in school. I should have known then to leave but I tried to give this woman the benefit of my doubt. When she approached to take our order i asked for our drinks and waited a long pause to let her write down 4 drinks i then asked if we could have 2x lasagnas and to which she bruntly told me to wait, im not being funny I served as a waitress for many years and never would have talked to anyone in that manner. We were brought out the food which I can only describe as being reheated from frozen vile food. The lasagne didnt have any pasta I couldnt believe it i literally deconstructed one of the lasagnes and it was mince with bechmel sauce and cheese. I was mortified to say anything until I decided that €55 for mince meet and a steak that was as dry and flavourless wasnt right. I went up to the bar to express my complaints I wasnt angry or anything but tried to explain the situation as it was not a lasagne. The woman came out and said to me “you told me everything was alright” I explained I did as I was embarrassed to have to say that theres no pasta in the pasta dish. She then went down to the table and gaslighted me into believing the white bechmel sauce was pasta. She then took it away and still tried to tell me I was wrong, then even tried to make me feel uncomfortable by asking me did I want her to bring the lasagne back out to prove to me. She gaslighted me the whole process and told me “well we wont be knocking anything from the bill” i told her I would pay the bill but that it was the worst experience ive ever had in any restaurant and she didnt care one bit. As I was leaving to gather my things she told me to have a nice day but only to be condescending. Its clear from the moment you go in that its very local and you can tell that they ask people to put out these reviews for the business. Please avoid...

Group of us dined today in the Monageer Tavern co Wexford and what a gem of an establishment. The bar is both a bar and museum reminiscent of 1916 and the years that followed, with beautiful hand painted portraits adorned on the walls of key Irish Figures.
