My husband and I both love this restaurant: whether to eat in or take out, the quality of the food is top notch. The menu is extensive, and the prices are very reasonable for the portions given. The restaurant dining area is very cosy, dimly lit, but that adds to the atmosphere, as does the music. I think it's a pity that the dining area isn't full every night, but I feel that's partly due to the location (lovely though it is, being situated on the historic French Church Street), and the still-lingering after effects of Covid. The takeaway part is always busy, and there is a delivery or pick up option. If you love authentic Indian food, cooked well, and sold in decent-sized portions, then I recommend that you get yourself to The Great India for a treat for which your taste buds...
Read moreReally poor food. Onion Bhaji was lacking flavour and probably the driest Bhaji I’ve ever had. The Chicken Tikka Madras wasn’t what I would class as a Madras. Completely different to any Madras I’ve ever had. It lacked taste and flavour and as mentioned above wasn’t what I was expecting. To top it off, when I left the manager whom had left the restaurant earlier was walking back in, didn’t even acknowledge me being his customer who’d just spent 35 euro on such poor Indian food. My vegetarian korma came and was had a layer of oil sitting on top of the vegetables, no matter how much I stirred it the sauce was just completely oily. I also ordered an doaid for sauces to go with the poppadoms which weren't included in my delivery and when I rang the restaurant was told it would come off my next order, the whole point of me ordering and paying for them was to have them with my food tonight.
