Be warned Sunday breakfast is so popular and the place gets very crowded, reservations are advised. We travelled overnight on a ferry from Pembroke to Rosslare during the Christmas period of 2024. Hollyhead Port experienced damage due to storm Daragh, so the Hollyhead to Dublin route, which is nearer to our home, wasn't available for us. We were exhausted driving en route from Rosslare to our home in the West when we searched Google maps for somewhere to eat breakfast. Google maps brought us to Treacy's. The premises looked cute, and its carpark was full for Sunday morning breakfast. As we entered, the place was crowded. We were asked if we made a reservation. We hadn't. We explained that we had travelled a long journey and only discovered Treacy's after doing a Google map search. We were accommodated, however, and stood in line behind others waiting for a table. Eventually, our party of 3 was led to a small table, which made us feel very squashed. We asked to move to one of the larger empty tables but were told they were all reserved. That was fair enough. However, when other unreserved larger tables became free before our food arrived, we were so tired from the long journey that we didn't ask to move again. We simply stayed squashed on one table. There was no offer to move us either, despite those larger tables remaining empty. Thankfully, the breakfast was delicious and we didn't wait too long for the food to arrive. My small pot of coffee was cold, but when I asked for another, the replacement was larger, hot, and heavenly! The atmosphere was rushed. Staff were extremely busy with getting food to tables, and people seemed to eat quickly and go quickly, only to be replaced by even more diners. We did not find the place comfortable at all. The staff and manager acted like they were working on an assembly line getting through the food service and diners as quickly as possible for maximum profit. Food, however, was of excellent quality and was delicious. Once we were fed, we quickly paid and felt obliged to leave quickly like those before us. We were still tired from travelling, but at least we were fed a good meal. Treacy's was not a place to rest after eating for us. We did that in another quiter eatery we stopped at for lunch before continuing with our journey home to the...
Read moreWe had a table booked for 9 people for 1.30pm on Sunday Jan 29 2023 for a very special Birthday celebration. When we arrived our table wasn’t ready. After a wait we were finally seated. We were served our food over an HOUR after we ordered. Drinks orders were a joke!! They either didn’t arrive or two of the same drink arrived. The food was of such low quality and taste that only 4 of our party eat their meal. It tasted like bad quality frozen food. The lamb was served with a beef gravy and the wait staff did not know that it was even supposed to be lamb. We brought along a cake and candles which were brought out to us… we asked for plates and were given 4 plates and 5 spoons… after asking several times we ended up with 8 plates. While we were eating our desserts and cake we were told we had to vacate the table!! After waiting over an hour for food in the first place we were barely given time to eat what was even edible. It was a terrible experience for my Mother’s 85th Birthday celebration …We definitely won’t return and would not recommend Treacy’s to anyone. We were very embarrassed to have invited our family to celebrate our Mother’s...
Read moreWas looking for a nice place to get a dinner on a way back from Dublin, and found this place. Decided to give it a try. It is a lovely restaurant/ pub located on old Dublin motorway close to Portlaoise. Plenty of parking, plenty of space inside. I would say the place is very polular among local people, but we got a table with no issues on Thursday afternoon. The place was quiet busy, so the booking might be needed for weekends. The atmosphere is very relaxing, staff very nice and friendly. Plenty of space between tables, and the tables with chairs /corner sofas are comfortable. We got steaks- oh my God! One of the best steaks I had! Especially with homemade whisky sauce! The portions were huge! I could not finish it. But really delicios. We also got two dessert - once again, the portions are huge and delicious. But could not finish my icecream. The quality of food is very good, all freshly made and from good quality ingridients. I have extremely sensitive stomach, and I was fine afterward. Will definately be back when next time...
