Decided to have Sunday lunch here recently. I rang on spec to see if there was any availability for three people. There was no problem acommodating us. On entering the premises we were treated like royalty and shown to our seats immediately. Menus presented we were given some time to peruse after our drinks were ordered. The selection was fantastic with vegetarian options available. As we were time constraint we didn't opt for the full three courses but opted for two courses one with starter and another with dessert. We placed our order and sat back to take in our surroundings. The dark wooden stairs led up to a mezzanine which made the place feel open and airy. While looking around the waiting staff placed on our table the nicest bread basket full of a selection of bread freshly baked. Alongside this was two small butter pats with rich creamy butter. It was impossible to resist the bread and we all tucked in immediately. Before long my starter arrived Goats cheese and Beetroot. I loved the lightness of the starter with the bread and reluctantly shared some of it. I was left satisfied looking forward to the mains. These consisted of roast beef, mushroom rissoto and the fish option of turbot. Thankfully I'm pescatarian as when it arrived in had a sneaky taste and it was sublime. I was just contemplating becoming a carnivore again when I saw the roast beef. I was in admit disappointed when my rissoto was placed in front of me for that first split second. That however disappeared as soon as I tasted it's rich creaminess. We also ordered the cauliflower gratin and champ. Unfortunately I didn't get to taste the champ as it had bacon pieces running through it. I can't remember a meal for a while where we cleaned everything on our plates at least two or three times with the amount of sides we were served. This food was excellent and the Malbec and Guinness was washing everything down like nectar from the Gods. Dessert was sticky toffee pudding with carmalised banana. I ordered my obligatory coffee. Now there is always a glitch if only minor the dessert did not live up to the rest of the meal. The pudding was slightly burnt and the carmalised banana was not there. However it came with a rich caramel sauce on the side and banana icecream. Now most people are not find of banana icecream thankfully I'm not one, unfortunately neither was one of my companions who I fought very valiantly for some of the icecream and caramel sauce. To conclude the meal was excellent over all. The restaurant is a hidden gem in Two Mile House and would highly recommend this place for Sunday lunch or an evening meal at...
Read moreWe went hear last Saturday night for first time, although recommend we still we're absolutely blow away ,by ,what can be only explained ,as the full and total experience of the brown bear.from start to finish the whole 3course dinner was delicious ,presented, as I had never seen it before in all and every restaurant I'd ever been in.and as I eat out at least twice a week that has seen me go all over the county over the yrs.presentation of each course was art to sat the least.worthy of numerous photos. The premises are just excellent also, friendly staff, very natural and not in anyway false.each course we got was flawless.you could write a review all day and still not capture the experience, you might hear as I did that the bear is Expensive, and although we did pay more than normal.you quickly realize I that you have actually got a way better deal.we we're a party of 4 all of which are no strangers,to the restaurant s in area, and I am not able to capture The experience to do it justice. Now everything on menu you would have seen before,as in steaks ,rissoto, chicken,so on ,so on and this is what the bear does that you are floored by really,as any course ,an dish ,was just so good that you are taking back a little ,deserts in any form are usually never even looked at by me anywhere I just had to pick a desert to see.we all choose differently but again nothing you would have not experience before in other restaurants, turns out I was wrong there too.i myself had a lemon meringue pie and strawberry sorbet.again best desert I'd ever had .each of us had the same result .just go that's all I can say,I am going again this week and just can't wait to eat there again.all 4 agreed that from starters to last bite.of night it was the best meal we has ever had.quallity , presentation, taste every department you can think of was a unique amazing, and out on it's own by a country mile..it just can't be put in words,as you would think how nice can A desert or steak, bread really get.turns out a lot if you go to the B.B.,ROLE ON...
Read moreHave wanted to go here for ages. It’s a nice place. Service was very good and it was starting to fill up as we were leaving. I’d say the atmosphere is great when it’s full. I loved that they have a nice Albarino by the glass.
As a pescatarian, I was disappointed with the options. There was only one fish for mains and tbh it wasn’t great. It felt like 2 dishes on the plate. Roasted cod with a green herb crust, samphire and courgette with a touch of lemon. That was delicate and fresh. Served with muscles that were the smallest I’ve ever seen, in a rich tomato and creamy sauce. Despite not being sure I was eating muscles due to them disappearing in the sauce, the sauce overwhelmed everything else on the plate. Both halves of the plate were very tasty, but I think they didn’t go together. That could just be me though. However, there was no other option besides an Asian roast cauliflower dish. I think that in this day and age, a bit more variety for non meat eaters is expected. My husband has sausages and mash with a Yorkshire pudding. He said it was nice but a bit dry. A tiny little pot of gravy came with it but it couldn’t do much for the YP. He didn’t ask for more which I’m sure they’d have given him, no problem. Overall, a bit disappointing. But I’d say if you eat meat it’s probably a great place as their menu sounds tasty and interesting. Best focaccia I’ve ever had with a superb dip. I’d go back...
