Good selection of plant-based dishes (4/5 Green Stars) Camile Thai was started by Brody Sweeney, who had previously founded O’Brien’s Irish Sandwich bars. Apparently there are 45 branches of Camile Thai around Ireland, the UK, and even the US. A lot of business comes from delivery and take away orders – this branch had many order pick-ups but we were the only diners eating in. Apparently the Oranmore (Galway) branch conducted a trial of food delivery by drone to save on delivery costs and carbon footprint. Three things are immediately eye-catching upon looking at the menu: 1. Compostable packaging for take-out or delivery food 2. Each dish is graded for carbon footprint 3. Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options There are some inconsistencies with some of the carbon footprint grades on the printed menu versus the online version that need to be fixed. For example, edamame received a D grade on the printed menu and an A on the online version. But in general these grades are helpful. As a general rule, the vegan / vegetarian dishes are graded A, while dishes containing chicken usually get a B, duck or prawn dishes are graded C and beef dishes are graded E. A more accurate version of this would be A for veggie, D for chicken, E for duck and prawn and F for beef – especially if other environmental factors such as land and water use were also taken into account. I found that even if dishes are listed with a meat component, they can probably make a vegetarian or vegan version. I was interested to try the Singapore Noodles and they were able to make it with vegan chicken instead of real chicken. We both enjoyed our dishes and I’ll definitely plan to return to try more. Staff members were friendly and the restaurant is very clean. I’m giving Camile 4.5 out of 5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, for these reasons: • Many vegan and vegetarian options. Adopting a plant-based diet is the top thing you can do to mitigate climate change and deforestation, besides avoiding animal cruelty and the negative impact of the meat industry on society. • The idea of grading each dish for carbon footprint is a very nice idea, helping customers to bear the planet in mind when ordering. • It’s also an interesting experiment to give people a choice – you can have the same dish with different proteins (tofu or vegan chicken, chicken, duck, shrimp or beef) with an increasingly large carbon footprint. But wouldn’t it be even better to not offer beef at all? • Compostable containers for food ordered for delivery or to take away is also a big plus. • Camile has also launched a trial (in collaboration with Vytal Ireland) of reusable packaging for food ordered from the Pearse St. (Dublin) branch – containers can be returned to the branch within two weeks. • Beer is available in bottles – it’s a pity they don’t do draft beer (less packaging) but I guess there’s not enough demand for it. • Camile collaborated with Open Hive to increase the Irish Black Honeybee population. • Restaurant ops have recipes and admin policies that reduce food waste to 1% in Camile kitchens. Food waste is responsible for a large chunk of our global CO2 emissions.

Camile is an Irish Thai chain. This was my first time trying it out just outside the Southgate shopping centre. The food we had was lovely! First we tried the vegan spice bag with Thai green curry sauce. This is a creative Thai twist on an Irish favourite. It was delicious and very well priced. We also tried the vegan pad thai which was delicious. This had a lot more to it, with fresh veg and well cooked tofu. However, the best thing of all was the service. All the staff were very friendly and seemed to be genuinely happy. We were served by Chethan who made sure we had a great experience. I feel overall this is a great place to stop in for a quick bite to eat. You absolutely will not be disappointed by the quality, portion size or value for money. Nice to see some good vegan options on their menu as well 😊

Me and my son were trying to get food next door, but no waiter come to us and a bit pricey for us. Then I saw this Thai restaurant, not busy, smiling girl at the counter. When we sit down, then I realised, this Thai restaurant was totally run by a group of Indian fella. And I'm a Chinese. I know Thai food well cos my best friend own a Thai restaurant. We ordered spring rolls and gyoza for starters, noodle and duck veg stir fry with egg fry rice for main, pudding for dessert, I was amazed by the flavours, truly rich and creamy taste, better than any Thai restaurant I have ever tried in Ireland. I meant any. I will definitely bring my wife and family come back again Highly recommended

Went to collect takeaway on their first Saturday evening. The place was absolutely buzzing.

Many staff, all busy like bees and you could even see into the well-managed food prep area.

The head manager, visibly handling the pressure very well, was polite and catered to every customer.

The young staff were very efficient and as someone who has worked in a busy chain restaurant, they really did well on their opening Saturday night.

As for Camile Thai in general, let me put this in the words of Carly Rae Jepsen: "Before you came into my life, I missed you so bad, I missed you so, so bad"

The food is solid. If you've ever eaten Camile Thai from their Dublin locations, you already know this.

The options are vast, and they are damn tasty. This is exactly what this part of Drogheda needed.

My new favourite thing is their Dan Dan Noodles and their Chu Chee curry, although you can't go wrong with their Crispy Chili Chicken either.

I've only ever had their Pad Thai from Dublin, so this is a great surprise.

Welcome to Drogheda,...
