Our booking was 7pm but we were waiting until just gone 7.15pm. Once seated we were informed of serval items from the menu not available today. Once we placed our order it was after 8 when it arrived. We had to ask for condiments for the table. My son ordered the chicken burger which came out very we presented but he said was pretty tastless. My mother in law and I both ordered the steak sandwich, one was to be med to well and the other fairly well done. When they arrived the waitress told is she didn't know which was which and that we'd have to cut into them to find out. Mine was definitely very well done. There was no sauce on the sandwich or even fried onions and or mushrooms instead there was 3 onion rings and these definitely weren't homemade. We had to ask for more drinks twice. There was no jelly for the jelly and ice cream so my father in law got 3 tiny scopes of ice cream which was something you'd give give a child but definitely not an adult and was charged full price. But the owner/manager was very quick to make sure the last 2 pints of Heineken were charged for on the bill before playing. We have eaten much nicer for cheaper over the past few days. We were...

The owner was very rude and was grunting. We got seated away from everyone, didn't get our drinks for quite a while. They forgot the water and wine, the Guinness had to be returned because it was rancid, the cocktails tasted as if they had no alcohol in them, starters took an hour to come out, we then were waiting for our mains that just never came.
At this point we have been waiting for 1hr and 30 mins. Throughout that time the waiters and waitresses did not come over at all apart from a waiter that was just laughing at us, saying something along the lines of "do you want to pay guys? Your mains aren't coming". Has to be a nepotism hire as this man isn't capable of waiting. We were perplexed at his attitude towards us. I think he just probably didn't care about his job at all.
To be fair it sounded like the people in the main area of the restaurant were having a great time hahaha but we were completely cast aside for some reason.
Definitely won't be coming here again, would...
Read moreFethard on the sea was not on our itinerary, but rather a spontaneous excursion on our return from Dunbrody house were we'd eaten already. But, a pot of strong Irish tea in a 400 year old family business (the O'Connell's and the Neville's have had a business here, not always a restaurant) was a welcome warmth to a gorgeous sunny but brisk day ( a day like April in Hudson Valley, New York or February in north Florida ). It appears to be the locals favorite pub. And I was corrected by a local, when I called it a restaurant, to letting me know it is a pub. I think this means no fuss with proper table settings, fancy wines, etc. simply good "home" cooked meals. In fact, I missed out into the rhubarb crumble, as it was all out. When's rhubarb season? I'll have...
