Read moreI will start at the beginning… This was our groups “TT Last Supper” We chose the Forge as it looked nice from the outside, and had fairly good reviews. We managed to get 10 of us together as that’s the minimum needed to reserve a table. We arrived on time as was shown to our table, We ordered dinks, but they came in fits and starts, the wine was opened at the bar, not the table, and then left on the bar. We walked over and got it in the end. The starters were served, but we didn’t have any cutlery, when we requested it, it was unceremoniously dumped at the end of the table. Mains started to be served, but the starter dishes had not been cleared away, and with no clean utensils (Except steak knives), so we all used the ones from the starters. The sides took so long to come out, the mains (especially the steaks) had started to go cold. Then when one of the ladies meals was cold when it arrived we decided this was not good enough. So one of our party approached the bar and asked if he could speak to the manager once we had all finished. The man behind the bar stated he was, in fact the owner. So he was then informed of the issues. From here he became defensive, and I have to say extremely rude, he was also joined by his wife who was also quite aggressive, I quote “you can’t expect London service here”, shocking really as they charge London prices! After things became quite heated, the manager finally agreed to give a 20% discount, as we were in the Isle of Man we decided to accept this. Had this been London, we would have given our address and asked him to send the bill as I do not think the meal was worth paying for. Extremely annoyed and disappointed by the whole affair and would recommend everyone avoid this...
Read moreAn unbelievable experience. Perfect cottage atmosphere with quaint and adorable grounds surrounding it. This was recommended to us by the B&B. We stayed at and it definitely did not disappoint. In fact, we ate here two nights in a row because there were so many items on the menu that we wanted to try. The first night was a Sunday so obviously we had to buy the Sunday roast which was fabulous. In every way you can imagine a Sunday roast to be. Came with Yorkshire pudding and potatoes which were prepared perfectly. The next night we were still hungry for meat. I had the filet mignon, which was one of the best cuts. I had had in a long time and my friend had the Châteaubriand, and that was out of this world. The baked feta and toasted French bread was especially nice and savory. For dessert we had the berry “Eatin a mess” which is like crispy, meringue, whipped cream, berries, and sauce. Super unique and very yummy. The side dishes of the vegetables were very well cooked and well flavored. If we come back to the Isle of Man, we will be definitely eating at this location. We purchased their cookbook and a couple of their house made cookies on the way out to eat as a snack during our circumnavigation...
