Papagaio — Restaurant in Jerusalem

Probably the best hamburger I have ever had. We started with charizos that were delicious. Nice soft hamburger bun. The burger was huge at 300g and cooked to perfection. The vegetables were huge as well, fresh and tasty. Included but not expected was the fried onions which was a nice surprise since most restaurants charge you extra for them nowadays. I added some barbecue sauce and some mayonnaise. I had a side of potato wedges with sweet chili sauce, which tasted like a mixture of sweet chili and sweet and sour sauce and it was delicious. Also ordered at the table was the Entrecote steak that was also good with a side salad. For desert we had a birthday so we ordered Zokoto - Salty chocolate crumble, combined with toffee, patisserie cream and topped with a rich Belgian chocolate mousse, topped with dark chocolate ganache, and a ball of lotus cream wrapped in tempered chocolate. Decorated with colored gold macaroons - it was really good. The food was excellent The atmosphere was great. The service was fantastic. If you can get a recommendation I would definitely recommend it. We went to Papagayo at the recommendation of friends and relatives who’d had great experiences there before, and we’ve heard excellent things. I’m very much a steakhouse lover, and have enjoyed the best of Kosher steakhouses around the world.

My wife and I brought our toddler for an early dinner at 5PM so as to not disturb other diners. We ordered the rib steaks cooked medium, and were surprised when both were served to us essentially raw but with a burnt crust. We verified that they were ordered medium, and then requested that they get some more time on the fire. They were returned still uncomfortably raw for both of us but we felt rude asking yet again for more time on the grill. On the plus side, our daughter loves cows - we could almost hear our dinner still mooing.

To top it all off, we were given water for our table... With the check. Which took 20 minutes to get.

Maybe we did something culturally insensitive or upset someone inadvertently - but in any case, we had a less than stellar experience and came away...

I am fuming. We made a very large order from Papagaio. (Over a thousand dollars). We were told we would be given a certain amount of pounds of mixed meats including steak, baby chicken, burgers, liver, and chopped meat. We also ordered many sides and salads and bread rolls that according to them would be sufficient for 2-3 people. There were no sides, the bread was barely enough for one person. The meats were dry. The division of meats were completely not proportional. There was no liver almost no steaks and almost everything was chopped meats. There were 20 people at this event who all said they will never order from Papagio again . I personally will spread this. This was robbery. If you make such a large order you expect the store to be generous and in this case they were so cheap that a meal they said would feed 20 didn’t even feed 5.
