Decided to try after reading many great reviews. We were very disappointed. The one thing almost all the dishes had in common was the fact they were all a bit too salty. Not salty enough to return to the kitchen (felt like idiots returning one dish after the other...) but salty enough to diminish the flavours of the ingredients. The chef also tries too hard to reinvent classics, ending up with dishes that don't have the right textures or flavours. We started off with tuna tartar - the fish itself was good but the chef chose to surround it with tapenade that overpowered the fish and left everything too salty. He wronged the fish again by combining it with bruschetta that was too crunchy and instead of a runny yolk on top he used preserved yolk that was way too hard and stuck to your teeth. Disappointing. The other starter was excellent - black bun that was superb filled with prawns and some sort of remoulade. Very tasty, and the only dish that wasn't too salty. Mains were disappointing too. Filet was good, but the sauce was too salty, and the potatoes in the gratin were cut so thinly you only tasted the saltiness of the sauce. And with a hefty price tag. Gnocchi were good but again, he tried to experiment with the technique of the meat, so instead of very tender bits of meat you got more chewy meat, covered with sauce that was way too salty, and the parmesan on top added to the saltiness without anything to balance it. The dessert, chocolate mousse over a brownie with salty caramel sauce, was very good. Overall very disappointed for...
Read moreI've spent a lot of time and money trying a lot of restaurants in Israel, and I stumbled across this one by a total chance, and it is by far the best meal I've ever head in Israel.
I do have to say that the attitude from the management was terrible, we came inside the restaurant and asked if there was a table available, since we did not reserve one, the manager at the place decided we were not rich and fancy enough and told us there is no way for us to get a table (while half the place was empty, even until we left), afterward he told me to look at the prices at the menu, and if I think the prices are fit he will try to squeeze me in, so the first impressions were really awful, but since we like food so much and were hungry and stuck in the middle of nowhere we ignored that and went in.
Getting in was the smartest decision ever, the waiters were great (seems like the manager was the only problem), and the food was absolutely amazing, every dish was spot, well balanced and flavors were great, highly recommended, but you should...
Read moreIf you've decided to leave the Coastal plains of the center of Israel and head north, come here for a visit. With a wooden interior, it was a cozy contrast from the cold breeze outside. The staff are welcoming and friendly, most speak English and will recommend you their favorite from the menu, if it proves hard to choose from the nice selection. The ingredients are fresh, expressing the range of Israeli terrior. The food was delicious, I came for the tuna tartar, which was fresh with herbs, next was charred broccoli with parmesan cheese, sweet, buttery, nutty and smokey, after which were Zucchini flowers stuffed with green rice in a fondue of parmesan cheese, rich and tasty, and for the finale, the smoked brisket with potato creme, I was lost for words on it, full of flavor, rich and smoked, sweet from the charred onions and carrots. LOVED IT.
TL;DR worth the drive, get...
