AlaEsh is a really top notch grill restaurant, specializing in skewered meats and fish, but other dishes are served too. Everything we ate was excellent, and the service was unusually friendly.
There is a section of starters on the menu, but I don't know why anyone would order from that section, since, if you order a main course, they provide an impressive array of 18 salads for 25 shekels. We couldn't try all of them, but every one we tried was really very good, much better than other places I've been. And they include humus and falafel. Most restaurants that provide starter salads charge extra for those. The salads are accompanied by a bowl of warm, fresh-baked lafa bread. And they keep refilling the salads and lafa as long as you want. This is basically an all-you-can-eat course. You can order the salad spread without a main course for only 50 shekels, or buy salads by weight.
I chose two skewers for my main course, pargit and chicken wings. The skewers each had generous portions of meat, soft, tender and tasty, cooked on a coal grill. My wife, who eats much less than I do, had the breaded cauliflower starter as a main course, from the many vegetarian options on the menu. Our young grandson, who likes his food simple, had a hamburger without any trimmings, just the way he likes it.
I heartily recommend...

We just had some “cigars” that are actually veal spring rolls with very nice tahini dip and an amazingly good hummus and minced meat dip with warm fresh bread. We also had some sweets , chocolate fudge and an apple pie / roll, which we devoured before I could take pictures. Well...
Read moreThis place was AMAZING! Food was very good, the atmosphere was great and busy (in the best way possible), but the service was the best part! The head waiter kept checking that we had everything we needed, which really gave us the feeling of eating at someone house. My wife and I kept hearing him say as he past by every table “מעולה, מעולה, מעולה” - meaning “great, great, great” seeing that everyone was taken care of! 10/10...
