Ristorante Eyexei Morgantina — Restaurant in Aidone

We are from eastern Long Island NY. Family came from Aidone. This was the first time family has returned to this village in almost 100 years. We eat good at home but the food in this restaurant was some of the best we ever had. Sunday afternoon and we were on our way to the coast and stopped here for a quick bite to eat that lasted 3 1/2 hours. The owner was so very nice to us and our two teen sons. Course after course came out. You don't order. The food is what is made that day. Appetizers, followed by a couple kinds of pasta dishes followed by mixed grilled meats and veg and a light dessert and fruit. This was approximately 12 years ago and to this day it is one of the most memorable meals that i have ever had. I will return to Sicily some time and will stop by this place for another visit. It was summer and we sat outside under a growth of grape vines and directly across the street from the entrance to Morgantina. The aesthetic and atmosphere of the restaurant is simple fantastic. Hidden, remote but indicate and beautiful. The food was just fantastic. Everything was delicious. The pasta dishes were bold in ingredients but altogether simple, Sicilian and amazing to eat. Our server was very respective and accommodating. Buoni gli antipasti, i primi e la grigliata mista. Qualche nota negativa va alla composiziobe del secondo, in particolare il pollo non era divisibile facilmente....due pezzi grandi e due pezzi piccolini...eravamo in 5....insomma non importa se dopo 15 minuti o più mi chiedi se voglio il bis di carne....sarebbe meglio portare quantità adeguate da subito! Altro commento negativo va all'assenza di un contorno che alleggerisse un po il pasto almeno un insalata verde! Su richiesta la hanno portata, peccato che a differenza delle altre portate servite su unico piatto da dividere, l'insalata ha avuto un trattamento particolareggiato, servita singolarmente in piccole quantità e inserita nel corto come extra di 12 euro per 4 insalate.....da non crederci! Il dolce una grande delusione....sempre che di dolce si potesse parlare, impasto di pane con dentro riccotta non lavorata o nutella e poi fritto. Scusate le cassatelle di solito si fanno con la frolla! E cmq non è stato carino vedere in un altro...
